Jan 16, 201313 yr Congrats.. I'm in the process of taking the exam. Can you please tell me what you use to study. Thanks ..
Jan 16, 201313 yr Author Yeah I used the CSC exam materials on the AACN website. They were very good- 3 DVDs total with PowerPoint presentations. It was about 12 hours total of the recorded CSC review course from NTI in 2008. You can order the materials through the AACN website.
Apr 2, 201313 yr It is my opinion that if you work with cardiac patients, you should need little to study. I found the test straight forward. I used the fast facts book by katty white for review.
May 22, 201313 yr I work in a combined cardiac medicine and surgical unit. I passed the CSC in December 2012 and the CMC in Sept 2012. I didn't study for the CSC (and am certainly NOT one of those nursing students who didn't have to study and managed to get 100% on everything). It's what you work with everyday. You should know it or be able to think your way though it (and that that I'm a know-it-all either).

After taking it I realized I went a little overboard with the studying but I thought it would be a good review and learned some new info.
May 23, 201313 yr Congratulations!! I won't qualify for the CSC because of the patients I work with, but I would love to take the CMC. I have my PCCN.

May 24, 201313 yr You should go for it! I took the Cmc in April! Very tough test but studying for it is a great way to stay sharp! What did you use to study? And I know they are different tests, but how would you compare the CMC to CCRN? I used the Pass CCRN! CD for practice questions so I guess I kind of have an idea on what the CCRN exam is like.

Follow the test plan on the aacn website. I used the book critical care nursing by urden (which is on the test bibliography) and a review DVD by cammie house fancher. I wouldn't recommend the review DVD though because I thought it was lacking. I have heard good things about the review by the aacn, however.
I passed the CSC today!!! So happy! Just thought I'd share with everyone :)
