Cpne

I am planning to take my last test Oct. 11th. So of course I am thinking ahead to CPNE. Any suggestions as to where the best place to take the test would be? I am guessing it will be around Jan/Feb.

Thanks Jeanette

I've heard consistently great things about Racine, WI. I'm finishing my last exam Oct. 17, so I've been thinking about it, too. I'll probably apply in Mansfield, OH -- it's the closest to my home; I want to be able to drive to the CPNE, not fly.

I often hear that Racine, WI and Amarillo, TX are very good testing sites. I have also heard that various sites in NY (I'm not sure which ones in particular) are also good.

amarillo..really i thought that site was on the no-no list...good to know

Thanks for the info. I can't believe that I am so close...yet so far. I understand that you always need to look towards taking the CPNE this close to being done. I am just freaking out because I don't want to be snowed out and have to reschedule and pay again. Any other info will be great.

Atlanta, Georgia...Southern Regional was EXCELLENT!

I tested this past weekend in Mansfield, OH. The CPNE was the single most stressful event of my life. It was just an awful horrible feeling. I couldnt imagine that I would feel so stressed out. I PASSED no PCS repeats but you still couldnt pay me enough to do it again. The examiners were great, they really wanted you to pass nothing mean and nasty like the prior post I had read, the even hugged me at the end and were clapping.

Where ever you choose good luck and try to relax, it wasnt until the 3rd PCS that I could even remember my name.

I had a great experience overall at Amarillo in 11/05.

Currently, I very rarely hear stories (from any site) about unfair failures and unreasonable instructors. There is a system set up so that clinical examiners confirm failures with the clinical associate. Even if the CA doesn't resolve the issue to the student's satisfaction, there is an appeals process. The most important factor in pass/fail decisions seems to be whether the student knows and executes the critical elements.

A few years back, it seemed like there was a clear division between 'good' sites and 'no-no' sites. (For example, Plano was a site that many did not dare enter. In the last couple of years, I know several students who went there and all had good experiences with the staff.)

For a long time, I heard that the Wisconsin sites had the highest pass rates. When it came time for my CPNE, I had a choice of sites on the same weekend - one in WI and the one in Amarillo. I couldn't justify flying to WI, so I went to Amarillo. It was a newer site and no one seemed to know what to think. That weekend 5 out of 5 passed in Amarillo, while only 2 out of 6 passed in WI.

My advice: Take information related to "easy" or "hard" sites with a grain of salt. With thorough preparation, a student should be able to pass at any site. (Of course, it's easier for me to say this as someone who has already passed and had a good experience.)

Hello all,

I don't write much but wanted to put my two cents in. I was in Amarillo Sept 7-9. Unfortunately I did not go home with the big prize. However....I wanted to say the experience was wonderful. The CA and CE's all were very encouraging throughout the exam. The reasons I failed were valid and it was no ones fault but mine. I will not go into details but my first 2 PCS's were adults and I failed both of them which sent me home on Sunday. The first one was on my evaluation phase, and the second was on intake and output...I had a total brain fart and did not measure half the liquids took in by patient...Jello, popsicle" Anyway I have sent in another application and plan on taking it again in Amarillo. May I also say I selected Racine because I heard good things...when I recieved my date it showed Amarillo and I was a bit apprehensive but once I got there and meet the staff it was fine. There will be a representative from the Albany office, and also a rep from the 1 of the 3 PAC (performance application centers) there during the testing...so there is really no way they can be unfair in testing. It seems my Ce's consulted the higher up when there was an issue and they will discuss it before they come out and speak with you. Anyway again it was great, i'll chalk it up to a learning experience and drive on.

Where is anyone receiving these pass stats at? I dont know how many passed because I took my congrat letter and got out of dodge.

Anyone have any good remarks from the NY test sites? That's will I guess i'll be testing. I want to be able to drive.

I tested in Utica, a new site, two and a half weeks ago. I passed with two lab repeats and one pcs repeat, all mistakes that I claim as my own. The Ce's and Ca were wonderful, fair and encouraging. The hospital staff was helpful and wonderful as well. HTH
