Corny question

:icon_rollOk, I know this is probably a really corny question but here it goes :icon_roll

My boss is getting business cards made up for me and asked me how I wanted them written. Should it just be "Nancy Nurse, C.R.N.P." or "Nancy Nurse, M.S.N., C.R.N.P" etc. or should it say FNP or CRNP and then spell out Family Nurse Practitioner etc. See, told you it was corny but I really don't want to make a stupid mistake on the cards. Thanks.

Specializes in ER, Critical Care, Paramedicine.

I have mine written out as RN, MSN, ACNP-BC.. There are new articles out there that say to put the MSN before RN, but this is how I was used to it, so this is how I wrote mine out. Hope that helps. *I also have my EMT-P, CCRN-CMC but I don't use those on my cards.. too much is too much you know?

Probably something they should teach in school

Depending on how you are using it depends on what the minimum is:

(may vary from state to state) Professional signature: My Name, FNP-C

Otherwise:

In short from what we were told in school the stuff they cant take away from you (education) comes closest to your name than everything else (license than certification) follows because these can be taken from you (i.e don't pay fees or meet other license requirements)...

My Name, MSN, RN, FNP-C

Unless its on my resume I don't include all my certifications (way too much alphabet soup).

Nurses seem to have so many letters after their name, whereas business people usually just have a title. Personally, if you can get away with it, I'd do:

Nancy Nurse

Family Nurse Practitioner

Clean and simple.

I'm Nancy Nurse, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, FNP-C, GNP-BC

Actually, I write Nancy Nurse, NP

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

I work in IL and our nurse practice act demands we sign traumarus, APN. If we want to add extra initials, we can, but the APN must be the first thing after our names.

I would want:

Nancy Nurse, RN, FNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

Most of the public knows not and cares not about all the crazy initials. I want my patients to clearly know what I am and what I do.
