Hi: I'm a new Lpn student class of 09 I was wondering what is the protocol of contact isolation. There's a patient where I work on the weekend who is on contact isolation and the way its setup I wanted to know:no: is it safe. We get the stuff outside the room we put on gown, gloves, and mask. When we get ready to come out the room we put it in the cans in the room is this safe to do this. Thank you in advance for the response.

Yup. The linens and waste bags are closed and tied before they leave the room. You use the hand sanitizer in the room before leaving and then head straight to the sink for a proper hand wash after leaving the room.
At least that's how we do it up here in the Great White North.
