Conditional Admission

Published

Have you heard about Conditional Admission to a Nursing Program?

I just found a college that offers Conditional Admission to the program if admission requirements are not met, such as EGL 101 placement and/or minimum performance level on the RN Pre-Admissions Test and/or the reading or writing tests. Students who admitted as conditional students will have additional requirements to complete during the summers, extending the lenght of the program to two complete calendar years rather than two academic years.

I just can't believe my eyes!!! If all of this is true, then I don't have to worry about the RN Pre-Admissions Test!!!:yeah:

Please tell me if such thing exists-I truly can't believe my eyes.

I've never heard of it, but each college has its own program criteria.

Good luck! :)

Hi Ola!

JHU does conditional acceptances..for those who haven't finished their first degrees, or all of their prereqs..lucky for me, who hasn't done either!! :imbar

Hope that helps--just wanted to let you know this godsend really DOES exist! :D

Hi again, ola!!

Hmm, not sure--waiting for the letter/call next month...from what I understand, your acceptance letter will say that you have been granted provisional acceptance--you're responsible for doing what is not done yet, and depends on what school you're going for (a friend of mine was recently accepted into USA's program conditionally), but you must get no worse than a B (or C, depending what school) in your remaining classes...

yikes..hope that makes sense! :p

Hi Peachy,

Do you need to pass the Pre-Admission test at some point of time, or you can just enter into the program and have good grades(depending on a school)

hi ola!

hmm..not sure how the test works, the school i'm applying to doesn't require one..

wish i could help more with that one..maybe go to the nursing by location and then choose the state that your school is in and try asking the question there? either that, or if you call, i'm sure they'll be nice enough to explain (hehe, i know the people at mine are probably tired of hearing from me!:imbar )

Hey everyone,

The colleges around here have conditional admission, however, it's only if you only have one or two prereqs left to take. If you have the entire slew of anatomy, chemistry, English, it's really doubtful you'd get conditional admission because your summers would be PACKED with not only nursing courses, but with your prereqs as well. If you don't have a lot of your prereqs out of the way, it's definitely not the godsend you are looking for.

Sorry about this. :(

BabyRN2Be,

My prerequisites are done. All I have to do is to take Pre-Admission test. With conditional admission do you have to take it or you can be admitted to the program without taking the test and just take additional classes?

Thank you:)

My college offers conditional admission BUT it means that you may apply to the nursing program while taking A&P 2 (without micro). If accepted, you are allowed to finish your last pre-req (Microbiology or another Gen Ed) along with your Nursing 100 course. This actually puts you ahead a semester.

You must have a high GPA and meet other criteria. (Pass the NLN -PAX) This is what I did and recently got accepted for the Jan. 9th start class.

The letter states that I must have successfully completed A&P 2 by Dec. 23, or my seat will be given to someone else. I have an A thus far so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Best wishes to you. :)
