Hi,

I am considering attending Columbus State for my LPN transition to RN. Do you have any idea what the waiting time is? I contacted them and left a mess for them to call back and possibly send me some info but they haven't called back yet.

I'm in the online RN program--will graduate in June!

I'm at Ohio State and I plan on taking summer and fall quarters off from here to finish RN prereqs for CSCC so I can get on the waitlist and wait FOREVER. ugh.....

Anyways, don't expect anyone to contact you back. CSCC is ridiculous like that. Go to Aquinas Hall to schedule and appt for a nursing advisor or try to call the advising office, speak to a person (messages are lost causess), and schedule an appointment.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid the waiting list for the RN program would be forever long. I live two and half hours from CSCC so it is somewhat difficult to go up there right now. I will be finishing up my LPN in Sept. Do you have any idea if Ohio Health or OSU med center hires LPN's often??

The waiting list is definitely forever long. The RN program has two tracks, online and traditional. You need a bachelor's degree to do the online track, though. You can apply in January and sometime in the summer for the fall/spring classes. The advisor I spoke to told me that "most students get in by the 3rd time they apply." I don't know if this means in 3 years or if you apply twice a year, thus taking a year and a half to get in. Though if you're doing LPN the RN, that may be different and I don't know anything about it.

In regards to Ohio Health, I would assume with 5 hospitals & statcare/satellite facilities, they would hire LPNs. I don't know anyone on the inside, though. My friend is a lab tech @ the OSU hospital on campus; I'll ask if she knows anything or would be able to ask about info on that.

I CANNOT wait to be done with international studies. I wish I could do the nursing program NOW!!! :o

P.S. obxfan, where are you geographically? Also, I'm a big Outer Banks fan. My family goes to Duck/Sanderling every year. :-)

I know that OhioHealth just stopped using LPN's in acute care settings but I'm not sure about others.

I have applied for fall 06 but have been told that I will probably be more likely to start spring 07

Spring '07?!?!? If that holds true that is a GOOD DEAL if your AU06 application was the first time you applied.

I live near Steubenville it is about 2 1/2 hours east of Columbus. I know exactly where Sanderling is, I was up that way when I went on Spring Break. I stayed in Nags Head, I have been going every summer since I was two...anyway, I saw the post after yours that said Ohio Health doesnt hire LPN for acute care anymore...... My main goal is to move that way and get a job with one of the hospitals that will pay for me to go back and get my RN. I hope I can find something when I grad.

I do not know why people are under the impression that there is such a long waiting list. That is not the information I have been given. I applied for the first time in January and was one of the first people to apply. I was told if I was not in for the Fall 06 quarter then I was pretty much guarenteed I would be in for the Spring 07. I will be done with all my RN pre requs in 4 weeks.

The advisor I spoke to told me that "most students get in by the 3rd time they apply.

clearly I am under the impression of the large waitlist because this is what I've been told by Columbus State.

Congrats on your luck.

Are you all talking to actual nursing advisors? Because I have and they are the ones telling me that so many people are getting such bad information about a waitlist that really is not there. Who knows who is getting the right information ya know? I am just going by what I was told. And I haven't gotten my acceptance letter yet. They go out on the 10th of June so dont congratulate me yet. And as far as "luck". I would not call it that. I have busted my butt to get these pre reqs out of the way and made it so all I have left is nursing. The communication around Columus State does suck. Everyone seems to get different information about things. Hopefully we will all be shocked and get in more quickly than we think.

Yes, I have spoken with a nursing advisor and have been told this. Why would I get advice on a specific program from anyone but a program advisor? Also, don't be offended by the luck comment. Actually, it does have a great deal to do with luck. The acceptances aren't awarded much by merit as they are with when you got your foot in the door, so to speak, so it does have a great deal to do with luck......and believe me, I'm busting my butt, too. I'm working to complete my BA at Ohio State while at the same time finishing my prereqs to apply to the RN program. I'm working two jobs and taking 25 credit hours.

Question: you say you'll be done with the RN prereqs in 4 weeks but you've applied already? How does that work?
