CNA Certification

Published

I know the CNA has stated that any other type of nursing experience (RPN, LPV ect) will NOT count towards CNA certification. However I did hear of one person who challenged it and 'won'. I do not know this person first hand, so I don't know if this is a rumor or myth. Has anyone else heard of RPN/LPN experience being counted towards CNA certification?

I'm confused....why would a LPN become a CNA?

I'm sure an LPN(18/hr) would never waste six weeks of school to become a CNA(14/hr)

Sorry, CNA as in Canadian Nursing Association. Certification that RNs get in specialty areas.

I have not heard that, but you never know. I would suggest emailing or calling the CNA certification line and asking them directly. I found the representative to be very helpful.

I know that LPNs who pass the same dialysis course as RNs are not allowed CNA certification as the RNs. Same goes for the ORA course here in AB

Bayliedynell is even being generous at $14 an hour. I worked full time as a CNA for three years and only made $9.98 hourly.

They are referring to the Canadian Nurses Assoc. not certified nursing assistant. Plus the Canadian dollar is valued differently than the US dollar

Plus most of us are unionized

Didn't realize this was a Canadian forum. I was talking Michigan wages.

CNA refers to the Canadian Nurses Association in this context for those of you who are thinking CNA means certified nursing assistant.
