Class of 2006

Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

Hi Ada! I'm on a mailing list for moms with kids born in 1998 and one of my friends there is from Finland! It's always fascinating to about thing's from another culture's perspective! :)

I am 29 a mother of 2 daughters 10 and 8 work full time and school at night. I will be

taking my A&P1 and pscy starting Aug 25th..I'm already nervous just thinking about it. The books are very scary. the pressure knowing that I really need an A don't help much. Good luck to us all

What kind of work do you do?

I'm sure you'll do fine with A&P, just stay on top of it! Plus I imagine there are many of us here who've taken it before, so if you need any help you know where to ask! :)

oops...I forgot to post that I'm a 30 yr. old wife and mother to 4 children..2 dd's ages 9 & & and 2 ds's ages 2 1/2 and 7 mths. I'm currently a SAHM by day and a student by night....come September this will all change

Wow, Fatima - you have a house full! I'd love to have some more kids one day... when I can afford them! LOL.. What was your major before you changed to nursing?

Manna-- they didnt officially say that, but yeah.. i need to chill out a bit more. I was doing too much.

2 jobs and classes 3 nights a week, plus wathing my babies.. it was crazy!

Yeah, sounds like you were working yourself to death! :o

Did your wife end up taking that night job? It's nice to have a second income, but it's tough working all day and keeping kids all night. Well, at least my kids who seem to be able to survive on the smallest amount of sleep imaginable. LOL

Yeah she's working at wal-mart at night now. Thats hard on me now cause i have to exclusively watch the kids.

I am also a 2006 hopeful!!! I am married with three sons from age 5-15!!! Less see I am just finishing up my prereqs now and start clinicals on May 25. Wow that's less than a week away!!!! I am working towards my BSN and this will be my sophmore year so that leaves me with six semesters of left. If all goes well I will be finished in May 2006. That's my story. Best of luck to all!!!!!!

Class of 2006 here!

I'm still in the process of completing prereqs for a BSN program. I should enter the nursing program in Fall of 2004! I'm not sure which school I'll be attending then, but I'm applying to about 5. See you guys around!

:D

So what classes are you guys taking this fall?

Chem, Geography, Art appreciation and American Lit here. :( Not too thrilled about them in general, since I'm a bigger fan of science and math than this general ed/humanities stuff.

All the BSN programs here are soooooooooooo impacted, that that is why everyone does the RN separate here in S. CA

I should be class be class of 2006. After I take Physio this fall they HAVE to let me in Fall of '04. I have a BA in Sociology from 1985, but that won't help me as far as a BSN. So I will start the BSN to MSN when my kids get a bit older.

I've got 2 kids, a husb, a dog and cat. I'm 41~~yes I know........OLD! hee hee

I'm taking A&P I, Microbiology, Nutrition, Statistics, and Texas Govt.

(17 hrs total)

Hi! I am 19 years old and I am a sophmore enrolled full time at my local CC working on my pre-reqs. Starting August 18 I will be taking A&P I, College Algebra, World Civ. II, Intro to Soc., and Developmental Psych. Now that I am actually typing it out it actually seems like a lot more work than it really is. At least I hope not

Looks like there will be A LOT of us with big grins on our faces in 2006!

I am also part of the class of 2006. I'll be starting my first nursing courses August 25. This will be my sophmore year of a BSN program. We had our orientation on the 8th, which made me so excited to start schoool I am about to burst!

I am 31....married mother of three (2 boys age 12, and a daughter, 7)....don't work outside the home, thank the lord! (of course, since I don't work we can plan on being poor for three more years:rolleyes: )

My line-up for fall includes: Fundamentals of Nursing, Professional Role Development, Statistics, and Effective Oral Communication (I guess they don't want to scare us by calling that one what it really is...SPEECH)

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I will be in one of the three programs next fall. I am hoping to go to my current CC because it has the best CC program in the area. The other one is not as good. I am hoping to get my RN first (even though I want a BSN and a MSN) because the closest four year school that offers nursing is about an hour away and God knows how much further the clinicals will be. (I have two kids, a husband, and one car so the logistics of it would be awful) I would have to travel all the way up there for my junior year and then the senior year is at a local four year school about 30 minutes away. So I think it would be easiest on my family to get the RN and do the RN-BSN online or the four year college that is an hour away has the RN-BSN and they hold those classes at the college near me . Not to mention if I go for the RN I will only have to be a part time student because I have will have all the other classes finished, if I go for the BSN I will still have more electives to take. Unfortunately, it is majorly competitive here. The not so good CC I have a good shot at getting in next year. The one I want to go to has 400 applicants for 90 spots. They don't even consider your grades when they pick who gets the spots. This is the craziest thing. We have what is called the point system. Most of your points come from the college placement test. Possible 360 can be made on the test. Then any grade C or above gets 3 points, used to be A's were worth five pts and B's three and C's one but they didn't have the man power in the counseling center to tally up all those points. If you have a CNA cert. that gets you 10 points. Those first ninety people with the highest points get in. Last year a girl in my A&P class who barely got a C got into the nursing program while some of the A students didn't get in. Does this sound right to you guys? So I will have all the points I possibly can by the end of this semester. Hopefully it is enough. Really makes me mad that my grades are not even looked at though I almost have a 3.5. Arg! This year I am going full time taking classes that the CC I want to go to wants, and some for the other CC and making sure it will all count towards going to the four year school too. I am taking Microbiology, Psychology, A Study Skills class (just for the three points it will give me), Humanities (Myth in the Human Culture), and Sociology (Group Processes). So Iam just really hoping and kinda stressing about getting in next year. I have been waiting around for seven years now. First it was because the kids were small, then we couldn't afford it (not that we can afford my classes now HA HA), and last year I have been taking all the prereq's. I am sick of waiting. LOL! Anyone in the Asheville, NC area?
