If anyone has attended or does attend New York City College of Technology's nursing program, can you give me any insight as to how long of a waiting list there is to get into the program? Muchas gracias.

There is no waiting list,as far as I know. You either get in or you don't. There's no waiting around. If you don't get in right away, i believe they advice you to retake some of the classes to bring your GPA up and then reapply.
You need a GPA above 3.6 (at least that was the cut off when I was admitted to the program) and a decent score on the NLN.
Thank you sooooo much!

williamsl88 - could you please post your overall gpa you had when you got in also the grades in your pre-reqs and score on the nursing entrance exam. I will be starting in the summer taking my pre-reqs and have some what given up on the idea of thinking I can get into City Tech's Nursing Program let alone any CUNY program with all of the competitiveness.
I'm just would like to hear what the scores/grades current city tech nursing students are getting accepted with - I'm wondering if I have a chance...
-thanks

I graduated from Tech in 03. When I was accepted by GPA was 3.9. I got accepted on my first try. I reccomend also becoming known to the faculty I went there several times and kept in contact with the professors so that if it had come down to the wire because of GPA I might have gotten the spot because I had left a positive impression upon those who had interviewed me. Pelase if you are truly interested in nursing, don't give up things have a way of working themselves out. If anyone wants help and I can help them please feel free to IM on aol or send me an email. Those are good suggestions. It's just as competitive now...they pretty much want you to have at least a 3.9 for the RN program ya know? I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and just be set on acing all my pre-reqs.
How are you enjoying your nursing career so far? I always get a little sad thinking that I hear so many nurses who say they regret becoming a nurse...not because they hate the job..but their higher ups and the environment makes it miserable for them.
I can't imagine doing anything else. As with any profession there are good days and there are bad days. It's about finding your niche and growing as much as you can. It definitely helps if you are proactive as far as asking questions or for clarification if you dont know something. Remember the only stupid question is the one that isn't ask. I have been blessed working in Med/Surg, Neurology, Post-Op, Ortho and now Pediatric Emergency Room. Its alot of work but it can be very rewarding.
Best of Luck !!!
