Childcare

I am going to be starting Home Health full time and was wondering how those of you with children make your schedule?

I drop my children off for school at 8:30 and usually set up my first vist for between 9 and 9:30. It is nice too when the kids have delays then i can just delay the start of my workday!! I LOVE home health care and hope I never have to go back to any other type of job!! My husband is finished working before me so he is there to pick them up when school is finished.

Home Health is the absolute best option for mom's with school age children. I did Home Health for several months and didn't have a good experience due to poor management. I decided to try something else but nothing allows me the flexabilty that Home Health does as a mom. I can take my daughter and son to school and if they have a dr. appt. I can schedule my patients around them. If I had a job where I had to be at work at 7am I'd be dragging my daughter out of bed, taking her to some day care. That's something I never wanted to do as a mom. Good luck.

I am a mom of 4 kids, 2 are school age. I really enjoy the flexibility of homecare. I am able to schedule my patients around my personal life which is great! I am almost always home by the time the kids get off the bus. Each time I think about leaving for various other reasons the flexibility always becomes a huge reason to stay.

Home health is the best opportunity to have flexibility when you have children. You can even schedule shift work around your children's schedule, if you coordinate it with a client who can be flexible, and your agency. It just takes letting your staffing coordinator know what hours you need.
