CCSF Lost it's Accreditation!

I just saw that!!! I freaked out at first BUT CCSF is appealing - and that is a lengthy process. If you are starting in fall, you will be ok at least for the first year and probably for the entire two years. I also saw that if CCSF appeal is denied, we can still get absorbed by another school.

But why would you want to spend time and money at a place that apparently provides poor enough of an education that it can't keep an accreditation? How hard will it be to find a job if you have this place on your resume? Just some thoughts. Good luck!

How does one find out if it will still be approved? At the moment, the CA Board of Nursing website still lists it as approved. But has this changed, or will it?

CCSF lost accreditation due to mismanagement of funds, and not because of poor academic performance. It is still a great school and has always been, it's just been mismanaged and corrupted by a handful of scheming individuals.

CCSF was the only school I was accepted to (got very lucky in lottery), so I don't have much of a choice unless I want to wait another year to try my chances again, at which time there will still be no guarantee.

So, should I continue to attend? If CCSF stays open I will not graduate until Spring 2016. If I decide to apply elsewhere, I can keep my day job, and RN school will have to wait. Advice anyone?

Call your board of nursing & ask they if they are still going to approve the program. If you are interested in getting a master's or continuing your education to a higher level, I would also call those schools, explain the situation & ask them if you would still be able to get a higher degree there later on just to be safe. Hey guys - I was just informed that even is ccsf closes, students will be allowed to complete their program. They can close a college and still keep certain programs going until the program is complete while not admitting any new students.

haha - I don't think the quality of education was the issue with accreditation - it was due to the mismanagement of funds.

I emailed rn dept and was told the rn program would be allowed to finish... Or finish at a different college. This was for fall students... I'm not sure about spring.

Thanks starcat. I have my fingers crossed that this also applies to Spring students. But, I am going to try to contact the rn department as well. I will share whatever I hear from them.

Thanks for the info starcat. I'm set to start in the fall and I have plenty of questions for the nursing department. I figured they'd put out an official statement soon enough. I'm going to stick with the program since I live here and I want to stay here. I don't currently have any other options, but I will be applying to other schools in January. I hope this all works out well enough for us.
