CCBC Spring 2011

Hello everyone,

I wanted to say hello to everyone applying to Spring 2011. When do you plan on handing in your application? I am so excited to be near the end of my perquisites. GOOD LUCK and I hope to see you all in the spring!!!:coollook:

Lucky ----> yes, she was placed on a "wait list" that could have been tapped if some students who were accepted did not accept the seat and make the $200 deposit. It is not a rolling wait list, so probably unconventional in the sense of the word. Someone in my Micro class had the statistics for Fall 2010 applications, printed out and with an administrators' name on it...interesting. There were actually only 55 qualified students who were rejected or "waitlisted". From what this paper showed, there seem to be a lot of "unqualified" students who apply to the program (I suppose this could mean they didn't meet the minimum GPA or TEAS requirement or didn't get transcripts or other requirements fulfilled during the application process, there were almost 200 of these?!?) There was a total of over 400 applicants...that's scary.

Anyway, I went to the bookstore to get a copy of the TEAS study guide and found that they had pulled it from the shelves. Apparently, as of immediately, CCBC is requiring a new version of the TEAS?!?!? CCBC Dundalk is not sure when they will get their copies of the study guide in but I hope it's soon. I definately want to study and get my 1st TEAS done by the end of July. I was advised to sign up for 2 TEAS exam times and take it twice. It's an extra $50 but they take the higher of the 2 scores and with the difficulty of the 2 classes I am in now, I may be kissing my 4.0 goodbye. I don't want to depend on that to feel comfortable with my application status.

I have a feeling that October is going to be a hell of a month (waiting for that letter) :)

Good luck to all of you. If anyone has experience or information about the program, application program, wait time for a response, etc. please post it. I'm sure all of us pre-nursing (hopeful class of 2013) students would love any extra info. Good luck to everyone!!!

I graduated from Essex CCBC last year. I did not get accepted the first time I applied. I was told it was because I had not completed Micro and my 2nd Psych class. They would be completed by the time the program started but that still puts you behind people that are applying with them already completed. I applied the next semester and was accepted. I had a 3.3 average. I did extremely well on the TEAS exam which is what I think saved me. I will tell you that a lot of the people that I was in the program with had 4.0 or not much lower. Mine was probably on the low side.

I don't know what I would do if I can't get in for Spring 2011. I have heard sooo many different things: you can/won't get in without all of your prereqs done, you can have a low GPA, bad TEAS, as long as you have one or the other good. I met someone that made it into the CCBC Essex program with a 3.0 flat for Fall 2010. Not sure now they did on their TEAS, but they had all of their prereqs done. Then, I spoke with someone that didn't have A&PII finished (like me), but was accepted with a 3.7. UGH! Wish we knew what to expect. October is a long way away. Good luck to everyone!!!

Well I am applying for Spring Day program also, and taking the TEAS at the end of this month. I have all pre-reqs done, except Micro, which I am taking this Fall. I wish everyone Good Luck!

I recently met someone who just graduated from CCBC. She said she got in with a 2.79 GPA and on the TEAS she got the bare minimum requirements. She didn't make it the first time though. The 1st time she applied to Essex and didn't make it. The 2nd time she applied to Catonsville and got accepted. I will be bummed if I don't make it in this spring. I will make the best of it and keep taking classes towards a BSN. Since I did pass the TEAS (barley), I am going to try my luck with that score. I will retake it if I don't get accepted. I wish everyone the best of luck. We can only do our best and what is meant to be will be.

I took the TEAS this morning. Bad news first: I think I bombed the science. Most of the questions, I had no idea. (note: I got an A in A+P 1) It was unrecognizable compared to the prep book. However, the other 3 sections were fair and what I expected. I wouldn't be surprised if I got none or very few wrong on English, Math, and Reading. But that science section nearly killed me. I would not have begun to know how to prepare for that! The other 3 sections were actually easier than the prep book. Now I am wondering how this outcome will affect my application for Spring 2011.

OMG! LaurieEllen1973, I was in there too today. I felt the same way, I breezed through the Math, Reading, and English. However, Science I was lost, and I also prepared with the new study guide (at least I thought I prepared). That section was definitely all over the place. I can't wait until next week to see my scores. I am going to submit my application on Monday, and hope for the best.

Wow. Glad I'm not the only one. We are the same age. What courses are you taking this Fall? I'm taking Micro and A+P 2. That's all I need. -Laurie

I am taking Micro and Nutrition. Micro is my last class for the pre-reqs too. I am taking Nutrition just in case later on I decide to get my BSN I will already have that class out of the way.

Got my TEAS scores!

How did you do?

I just took TEAS V as well. I didn't get high score as I expect.(only 68.9%) At first, I think I have to retake again since my score is not even reach minimum recommend score, but I have read on the CCBC website about TEAS V.

They will not post the minimum scores. My score is just enough to apply.

I still have to take ENG102 and Speech101 in this Fall( I am done all the science classes), so the advisor didn't recommend me to apply for Spring2011. I will try anyway.
