Mrs x is 55 years old female patient came to ER escorted by the EMT staff and wit history uncontrolled DM , initial assessment it revealed stuporus level of consciousness

decreased blood pressure, tachycardia , rapid respiratory rate (tachypnea)

en examination: she displayed flushed face, fruity odor comes out with her breath, VS: BP 90\63 P:129\MIN, RR32\MIN T37.8 the urin bag contained 2000cc within last 4 hours, her RBS was 600mg\dl

QUESTION:

Based on biochemical basis explain the pathophysiology of the presenting s&s describe the appropriate emergency nursing intervention??

It's ok.....I just want students to take an inch...give me a little...I will show them the mile. You are smart....and give good advice...let them work for it...that will help them the most. By seeing how they set the problem/case study up..... we can see where they are going wrong and correct them. Make them the best they can be.....;).

Please check into what stephenandrews was saying because it is scientific and to the point and when we both finish school and practice nursing we will need to understand this concept. This is a scenerio that can and does happen in real life.

I had a coworker before i started nursing school die from diabetic ketoacidosis. He told me his symptoms and i said go to the emergencies room but had I recognized that he was experiencing organ failure I would have called an ambulance.
