Care Plan???

Let me begin by saying I love this website. I think the support I get from you guys is unmeasurable.

I am almost done with my nursing theory tests. I still have sociology left to clep. I am Currently studying ls3. So far, I have done alright up to this point. Some c's some b's and an A so far. i study the test guide and use Lisa's notes and sg101 and most of the recom. texts. I guess I am getting toward the end and I am getting very nervous.

I read about someone's cpne experiences and the care plans. Exactly when do you learn them( care plans) and the documentation? Did I miss something???

I try not to read ahead and scare myself, but too late. after reading somone"s cpne experience thread and I think I want to run my own head over. Kind of late to turn back now, but what to do?

I planned on taking both Excelsior and someone elses workshop when the time came....but I feel so behind. I guess my entire question is this... Are you prepared by the time you get to the CPNE??? Should I know about care plans by now??? what about the documentation?

    IT just kept coming up lately, and I was wondering if I missed something.

    I forgot my Saunders book in Florida, have to wait til it gets back to NY...:(

    We had practical nursing students that are graduating next month from the same program I attended in 1991 observing in the operating room on Wednesday, and they confirmed that at least in our area, care plan creation is delegated to the RN. They have had no care plan instruction this year.

    We had a TON of care planning in LPN school. We had to form atleast 2 diagnosis complete with measurable goals, rationales and evaluations for every pt we saw in our clinical rotations. I felt really well prepared to care plan when I graduated. Where I work though, once you put the patient's assessment in the computer, like say you put that Neuro Assessment is outside of normal limits, the system prepopulates a whole bunch of Neuro interventions and diagnoses automatically, you just click and select. The only thing I have to have the RN do for me is reprioritize and edit my texts to put in a goal.

    I am scared you know what less for the CPNE. I know that I am a competent bedside nurse... I am very confident while caring for my patients... but can I live up to the standards that EC wants in the small window of opportunity I have to prove it? Nightmares already......
