Here's my situation. I have never had a temporary practice permit before. I recently took the NCLEX in May but failed it after 265 questions. Would I be eligible for a TPP if I have failed the NCLEX but never had a TPP before?

Usually not. Your state board could clarify. Is this for Pennsylvania?
Yes this is for Pennsylvania...

Nope I seriously doubt it.
Here's what you're looking for:

The TPP is for people who haven't taken the NCLEX yet.

no i am sorry you can't.. when do you retake nclex?
I haven't decided how much time I should give myself. I am working through Suzanne's first tip but I'm a little nervous about it. (Thank God she provides that service for free.) I've read through the Saunder's book before (that was my primary study material) and so I wonder if my results from the end of chapter quizzes is inaccurate. I've seen those questions before you know?
I'm thinking that I will sign up for the test at the end of this month. Then give myself the full 90 days to take the test. So about 3.5 months? Uncertain if I should give myself more time. Does anyone ever feel ready?

Once a person writes the NCLEX exam, they are no longer a GN. If they pass, they get the RN status after their name and if they do not, they cannot use that title. Once the exam is written, it is never possible to get a temporary permit in any state to work in the role of the RN.
It is going to require that you pass the NCLEX-RN exam to be able to work in that role.
Temporary permits are just that, temporary until one writes the licensing exam and then they expire.
Moved this thread to the NCLEX Forum where the majority of the op's posts are. It will make it easier for others to follow.

Hi Suzannne, I have question about this also. If my IP still valid even though I've already taken Nclex 4 days ago and don't see my name on the BON web, do you think my test has not been processed? or they haven't finished update the files? thx for your info.
Technically, if one were being picky, your IP cancels when you write the exam, either you pass and then get the RN status or then you do not and the IP is no longer valid.
As long as you do not have your results or have not been notified by them to surrender it, then you can consider it valid if you are working with it.
