Hi I'm sending in my application to CA temporary license this week and hoping I'll have it by March to start a travel job out there. My question is for the transcripts do all my schools have to fill out the request for transcript form that CA board gives you? I took classes at 2 schools for my general requirements, got my ASN at another school, then my BSN at another. I'm worried that trying to get 4 schools to fill out that form will be difficult to do quickly especially since I'm in NY right now on an assignment and those schools are all in FL. Can I just do the electronic transcript request that will send the transcripts immediately or in the next day?

It took me about 7 months to get my license. In this thread you'll find some very valuable direct numbers to get to a real human being. It appears that the average time is about 4 months - roughly 2 months after they cash your check. I would use the form with all transcripts....and believe me they want them ALL. I didn't send all of mine in because who would think they need to see that you took speech com to get your license. But yet they do. They also lost a set of my transcripts TWICE. Maybe your agency can get the wheels turning faster.

If your schools have an electronic request for transcripts, you don't need to have them fill out a paper form from the board. Those filled requests will be collated at the board based on your name and probably your social security number. To be on the safe side, it would be a good idea to have your application in at the board before the transcripts arrive, but it is likely not that important.
You can also check with your nursing school about the need for your other transcripts. Some schools will send all the relevant transcripts needed for your nursing license, others don't send the transcripts, just the documentation that needed credits were applied to your requirements for graduation from other schools.
In any case, I would order a set of transcripts for your own records so you know what the BON is seeing. Some states, such as California and NY, are very particular about certain credits but won't supply you with helpful information about what you need to add. They might say (for example) that you need 5 units of micro, but won't tell you how many you have already. Having a copy of your transcripts also helps if you seek to get a higher degree in evaluating your needs. Same if you ever seek a foreign license such as Great Britain or Australia.

Ummm, does it matter to the BON if u failed a class here and there and had to retake it?
No, even if it shows up on the transcript (and it should not). They would be looking to see credits earned are sufficient, any other work is irrelevant.

It also took me a little over 8 months to get my Cali license and they also lost my transcript but only once LOL. I spent endless hours on redial and hold....and that is not an exaggeration! But I have told of everything running perfect and getting it in 8 weeks

The current wait time is about 5-6 months. I'm stuck in WA until mine comes through as well.
