C section info needed - NOT MEDICAL ADVISE

My friend had a baby by c section yesterday. I am trying to figure out when I should call her to see the baby. I do not want to call her to soon. How long (generally) are people kept in the hospital after a C-Section and how long after that would someone be up to having a visit.

not sure of the exact spelling but it sounds like Nyada Penelope

I had (2) c- sections. Normally immediate family can visit about 1-2 hrs afterwards if no complications. Friends can visit after the patient is in the postpartum room during visiting hours. She will also be in the hospital for about 4 days as long as there are no complications.

If she has other kids, it would be wonderful if you took care/out/watched her younger child(ren) so she could spend time just with the baby...nap, relax, its a great gesture

after my daughter was born i had to stay for 2 weeks (really rough time) and had lots of visitors which was fine. it helped a lot to have others around to help with the baby because i was so sore and so sick. after my son was born i had such a quick recovery, i was up walking within a couple of hours of my c-section. unfortunately, his father was a major jerk and i didnt have many visitors so i spent my 3.5 days in the hospital mainly by myself being depressed wishing for visitors.

i think you did the right thing. it all depends on the person and the situation. i for one dont go visit to often in the hospital because i know that is the time for bonding for the whole family.
