Bridging Program in Australia

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

as of today, i dont have the new offer. :( i dont know what's taking them too long to release it when i am already settled with ielts.

aww that's sad but did they give you a confirmation of enrollment? did you start processing for your visa? sorry im a little bit anxious here :(

hi dougers,

I haven't really made up my mind yet on whether to go for the Dec intake. I have to talk it over with the family. Did you apply to schools apart from aaon?

AAoN has accreditation based on University of Ballarat. It means they can run IRON program until year 2014. I am doing the course with them right now.

Hi thaimidwife! How was your experience in aaon? Did they offer assistance in job placements? How was it?
Have you had medicals? good luck to us :)
Not yet, I've just lodged my visa yesterday, I'll wait for their go signal when to take my medicals.
Hi Ian. What is a BRIDGING VISA? Thank you in advance.
Well a bridging visa is something you can request in the embassy if you want your visa to get extended. I think you can apply that by saying your waiting for your registration number to be released or waiting for your visa to be converted into a 457. That's what my friend told me about a bridging visa. Haven't been on that stage though still waiting for my 456 to get released. Hehehe

You can only apply for bridging visa if, you already have a sponsor that has applied as sponsor for the 457. Otherwise you have to change it to a tourist visa. Or leave the country and come back on the 456 if, it has multiple entry.

Which university offers the shortest bridging program or those that allow early exit? I only intend to go on leave from my job as I have the course and this needs an intensive planning.

Once Completed with the BP, do you have to personally claim your certificate if you need to exit first?

Anyone here who finished the BP and how long did it take you to land on a job? Thanks

Yes please,, advise where all these jobs for nurses are, so that the new grads or ones from last year can get work and also returning nurses that want work can also gain employment in this country.

Look at the advertising, must have work rights!!...... must have at least 2 years experience........must have post grad in this area........then look at the specialty, they are asking for experience. They are, most of the time, for part time as well....which you cannot get sponsorship visa.

Please do not make statements there is a high demand for nurses when there is not. Nurses with a specialty- ED, theatre, icu sometimes renal, and 2-3 years recent experience are always being advertised, but then sometimes they want work visa as well.

This is what is often written - from an ad, that said they were desperate for aged care RN's in northern Sydney al beit for casual,

""To be eligible to apply for this position you must have an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa.""

Any idea of the university offering the shortest BP or allowing early exit?

actually, i have no idea about that. it's the agency that takes care of everything. :nailbiting: sorry i can't help you with that as of the moment. :( but if i get the offer next week, as the agency has promised, then i'll take a look at it. ;)

Alright. cos usually if they get the payment they issue a coe. i'll give them a ring on Monday as well. :) Will you let me know if you get the new offer letter? :D Thanks.

hi everyone! may I just ask how would you assess the chances of a Filipino nurse with 1 year exp in OR/Theatre with regards to job placement after bridging? how are employment opportunities for nurses with 1 year exp in the specialties? thanks.

About the same as mine and I have no theatre experience, and better than those with no experience or 3 month volunteer in general wards. IMHO
