Hi, im new to this site and i am sorry to start this site on a whinging note. i am currently working on a gynaecology ward where the satff have no interest in training or appraisals ( i dont think they know what they are) and i am really fed up. i do like nursing but i feel so frustrated and need some adive. Does anyone know if i can go in to mental health nursing from adult nursing I have a degree but i really do not want to have to go through another 3 years training. I would be very grateful if somebody out there could give me some advice so i can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I look forward to your answers, i live in Wales.

Thanks for reading this.

Hi and welcome to the site

I have moved your post to the UK forum as I feel you will get better support from UK nurses, (not saying any others would not support but relevant to UK training and issues)

I see no reason why you can't do a mental health course and usually 18 months as you will have already done foundation course. Best bet is to contact university and see what is what.

Surprised they are not interested in training and appraisals as all part and parcel now of the NHS although many hospitals are behind with some things. Have you thought about looking for a job in another specialty? Good luck to whatever you decide

There are loads of intrest groups in womens health to improve nursing and patient experience - why not become an activatist for your professional body or union thay will keep you busy there is always loads of workto keep you busy - I lived and worked in wales prior to my move!
