Does placing a pt on bedrest require physician's order? Opinions?
Thanks!

Noooo! What if your failure to use your nursing judgement in this instance resulted in harm to the pt?

yes you will need a physician order, especially since it is more dangerous to be on bedrest than not. If you feel you need to put a patient on bedrest you should do, but get an order for it.

where i am at its a combo of both posters above myself.
I CAN put a pt on bedrest using my nursing judgement, BUT, i then need to call the physician and get the actual order and explain myself.
