Glad to help :) This program has changed my life. I am so excited for everyone getting started. Just remember, you have a tonne of support available to you if you need it.

And I assume this text is used throughout all pathophysiology courses in the BCIT's Nursing Program?

Thank you smiley65! For clarifying that loooong textbook list! =)

And happy (belated) international nursing day! I'm so grateful to be accepted for this program's intake, it has been a stressful process. It's great because I can finally pursue my dream job now!

Can't wait for August to start :)

Hey snowyivory

No problem! Try to enjoy the summer, get as much front loading done as possible because once August hits, time is gonna ZIP by!

Hey smiley65,

I got the Jarvis textbook so I started doing the pre-readings from there. There's also the online readings and Worksafe articles for NURS 1020.

Is there anything else that I could read up on to make the adjustment a little easier for me? Any other topics that I should review?

Good for you :) if your courses are open on D2L, you could start going over the 1019 modules...or start watching the videos for 1020. If its not open, I suggest brushing up on anatomy and physiology, maybe learning some medical abbreviations, study up on pneumonia and stroke.

The best advice I can give you is to relax! Enjoy your summer! Do your Jarvis pre-readings, but other than that, enjoy the break that you have, because you are in for a busy 3 years. I am graduating from the program and quite simply, feel burnt out. In three years, I have not had a break from courses; at BCIT the terms are 16 weeks and by the end, it really gets to you! So I would advise you to get outside in the sunshine, visit your friends and family, and worry about school as it gets close to the start.

In my intake, there were people who did the prereading, and people who did not. Those who truly want to be nurses will put in the effort during the term and do well :)

hey everyone! just wondering if you know who we can call to ask some questions regarding our application. i have been waitlisted for august but wanted to speak to an advisor regarding some courses and a few other things about the program etc. i tried calling the academic advising line and the woman told me she was an advisor but knew nothing about my file (she wouldn't talk to me) and i would need to speak to a nursing coordinator and they were only available by their email address. i don't understand that? i know a few of you have talked to someone.. anyone know who i can contact?

also does anyone know for sure if you are offered a seat for august, whether or not you can defer to january 2013?

thanks!!

I was accepted to the Jan 2012 intake and was able to defer my acceptance to Aug 2012, so I'm guessing that if you are accepted, you'd likely be able to defer too?As for who to contact, I usually just email the nursing@bcit email to ask any questions. They are pretty quick with responding.
