BC nursing programs 2022 - grades

Published

Hi,

I am currently applying to the following nursing programs and am quite unsure about my GPA at the moment. I am aware nursing programs in BC are very competitive and would just like to have an idea of what grades people have gotten in with. Can anyone who recently got into the following programs share with me what their GPA was?

COTR, Selkirk, CNC, UNBC, Camosun/UVIC, UBCO, NIC, OC, VIU, UFV, and TRU

I have a 91 in Foundations 12, 87 in English 12, 90 in Chemistry 11, 78 in Bio 12 (currently retaking for a better grade, I am anticipating 86+), and I am currently taking Chemistry 12 as well. I also have 24 non-nursing credits and I am taking some nursing courses right now that will help lessen my course load once I am in the program.

I am also wondering if I should include my post-secondary credits as well when I apply and if that will increase my chances? I am applying to quite a few places and so ordering transcripts will be quite pricey and so I am just wondering if it is even worth it.

I am also applying to BCIT, Langara, and VCC with the required prerequisites but I am aware they prefer applicants with much more credits.

Thank you!

Hello, @summer2064, we have moved your post to the Canadian programs forum for best responses.

Sorry this isn't super recent, I applied to camosun/UVic, COTR, Selkirk, college of New Caledonia, coast mountain college, okanagan college, NIC, VIU, UBCO, UFV, and TRU for fall 2019 entry. I got into all except VIU and Selkirk with having 90 in chem 11, 88 in bio 11, 96 in bio 12, 86 in chem 12, 91 in English 12, and 91 in foundations of math 12.

Hi! A little late, but I applied to the Camosun/UVic program last year and re-applied again this year. They calculate the admissions on the 9-point scale, so your grades will be converted to match those. For example, my grades for admission were:

English 12: 91% (9 on the 9-point scale)

Biology 12: 86% (8 on the scale)

Chemistry 12: 81% (7 on the scale)

Academic 12: 98% (9 on the scale)

My admissions average was calculated to be 8.18 out of 9 which works out to about a 91% average. Last year was extremely competitive, and the initial invite cutoff was 8.25. For the Camosun/UVic program, there are a total of 160 seats (50-60 reserved for current high-school students, 8 reserved for those with Indigenous ancestry, and the rest are for those who are out of high school or transferring university credits). All 160 seats were offered and the last person to get an initial seat had an 8.25 and anybody below that was put on a waitlist. That waitlist is maintained until the first week of September pending withdrawals and deferrals. I withdrew my application from the waitlist before I could find out if I got off because I wanted to wait to go to nursing school when I felt ready. I believe the last person who got off the waitlist for the last intake had around an 8.10 average or a 90%.

While I can't speak to the other programs, that is what it looked like for the Camosun/UVic program ?

Hi!

I have applied to Selkirk, COTR, and UBC-V.

So far I have gotten into Selkirk but have not heard from COTR, and I expect to hear from UBC much later.
