Baylor 2011 Internships

Published

hello! :)

i posted this in the gn forum, but maybe i'll have better luck with responses here!

has anyone heard back from baylor yet on the 2011 internships? i've applied and also have a friend that works on the unit that i am interested in, so i have my fingers crossed that i get a call for a phone interview or personal interview...in any case, best of luck to everyone! :)

also, i was thinking of posting some interview questions that may be asked so here are a few from me:

1) how will you handle unexpected circumstances, such as being short staffed and having to perform a treatment you have not done before?

2) why did you choose xx area of nursing?

3) what do you consider your most significant strengths/weaknesses?

4) what are your career goals and where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

5) how will this internship help you meet your career goals?

some questions i have written down that i would want to ask my potential employer:

1) based on our conversation today, do you have any concerns i can clarify?

2) as a nurse manager, what are your expectations of a new nurse?

3) how long is the orientation process, and if i don't feel comfortable at the end of my orientation, will you allow more time with my preceptor?

4) what have been the biggest challenges for previous interns on this floor?

thanks,

jadu1106, rn

I applied to some and have not heard back. I heard they are not starting anything for most of them until later this month? But I also have heard a few people hear and there saying that they have gotten phone interviews, so I really don't know what the truth is! I have not tried calling them yet either.

I have had a phone screening with them. I called to check on the status of my app and the recruiter scheduled a phone screening with me for later that week. I haven't heard anything since and was told they would be scheduling interviews later this month. I have an interview with Children's later this week, any advice on behaviorial interview questions ("tell me a time when...")? Good luck to both of you.

Good luck on the Children's interview! Which dept are you interviewing for? I have a couple of friends who work there and love it!

I also have applied to Children's...not a call back from either Baylor or Children's....but I am keeping my fingers crossed! At Children's I applied for the Inpatient Surgery/Ortho dept. Good luck to everyone!

Astrmi: here is a link I found from google with behavioral interview questions!

I am interviewing for an ED position. Thanks for the link, jadu1106, and the well wishes.

Specializes in CTICU/CVICU.

I will be applying for the June cohort at Baylor. Have you guys heard anything back yet?

Hi,

Yea, I got an email from them last week stating that I was not selected for the position. I didn't even get a phone screening. Still waiting to hear from some of the other area applications I submitted. I have even applied out of state and outside of the DFW metroplex. Good luck to you! :)

Awww...I'm sorry to hear that! But I'm sure you'll get what you want in your other applications! Good luck!!

i have a question regarding the phone interview with baylor. do they call you ? you call them? please reply. :)

Baylor will call you. If I remember correctly I think she sends you an e-mail asking to set up a time to interview. You will set up a time with the recruiter (mine was ******** ******) and she's really nice and the phone interview went smoothly even though she was late calling me and I thought she wasn't going to call me. I was lucky enough to get a live interview that same week and was hired for the Summer 2011 Critical Care internship for Graduate Nurses.

Did you have to have an extremely high GPA?
