My hospital is very low census for a long time now, and we're all getting called off a lot. Paychecks are suffering. But we have mortgages and other bills. I need another job, but what I don't want is another "weekend commitment," besides, other hospitals around here are just as down. What are some of your suggestions for alternative jobs? I've thought of home health, does that pay well? Or am I going to dangerous neighborhoods for fifty bucks a visit? Any other useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i needed a part time job when my husband was in law school.. i worked in community health supervising flu shots and pneumonia shots , it was easy i would just file the paper work and then determine when the low income babies needed their next shots.. then i called the mom on the phone after the baby had the shot and see if there was any reaction. that was a long time ago and now it is all computerized... but it was easy i was a file clerk with RN wages... i didn't have to do one shot , ithe LPN's did them, i just took the paper work and made sure it was all filled out... easy peasy... i did that 8 hours a week because i had 2 little kids at home ( i now have 6 kids) and just needed a little money.. flu season is coming up .. maybe you could get a job doing something with shots.. or how about a advice nurse.?

FLu season is coming up- that means 2 things.... increased hospital census and the opportunity to make some extra cash giving flu shots- check local ads for flu shot clinic nurses, they should b hiring soon.
Good luck!!
