Hello, I am new to allnurses.com and was wondering if anyone on here has also applied for ASU's spring start bsn program. Or if you have applied to their program before, and have been accepted or denied, and what your scores were. This is my first time applying there, and I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I know it's a very competitive program. My gpa out of the 13 pre-requisites was a 3.76 (I am taking my last 4 pre-requisites this semester) and I got a 100 on the math portion of the NET and a 73 on the reading portion of the NET. I, personally, am so glad they removed the essay portion, since I know that's what cost a lot of student from not getting into their program. But since now their essay has been removed, I have no way of guessing/estimating my chances compared to previous semesters since the point system is out of 6 now instead of 7. My total points is a 5.49 out of 6. So if you applied for asu's spring start nursing program, and don't mind also posting your scores on here or in a private message, that would be great! I have no idea what my chances are! Thanks for reading.

I am not there yet as far as applying, but what I did was I took what the lowest score was last year for those that got in the program and figured out the percentage that was based off the full value of 7 points and just calculated the percentage based on 6 points now since the essay is not longer a part of their consideration. I hope this makes sense. When I met with the advisor, she advised me that the lowest score accepted into the program last year was 6.13/7.00, that is about 88%. Please, do not quote me on this and think this is how you determine if you will get in or not, I just wanted to get an idea of what scores I needed to have to attain acceptance into the program.
Yes that did make sense, thank you for replying! When will you be applying? Well, good luck to you! And I will post on here in October or November when I get my acceptance/rejection letter!

I am currently in the ASU program at the downtown campus and graduate this december. When I applied my GPA was a 3.89 and I got a 99% on the net and a 73% on the reading portion and I got in no problem and I even got my first choice for location. Your numbers sound really good and I don't think you will have a problem getting in. Good luck! :) Its a great program and I have learned so much and I am so excited to graduate and start working as an RN! :)

jeym7,
I applied for Spring 09 ASU, but I'm definitely having doubts I will get in. The most recent letter I recieved said we would be notified in the next month or so. Of course I will attend the first school that accepts me, but I'm trying to think of this application period as "practice" since the two campus options are Poly(too far) and Downtown... Fall 09 at West would make for a better situation for me, but like I said before - I'll take the first offer & make it work!
My scores on the NET were similar to yours, high on the Math & avg on the Reading. My select GPA is a smidge lower than yours, but according to my advisor, my total Admit score for Spring 09 was only .14 points away from the "cutoff" score for last years applicants. (I hope that makes sense)
Good luck & let us all know if you get in!
:typing Thanks for replying! I've been on the community college waitlist since October 2007, so if I don't get into ASU, then which ever comes first next time. My first choice is the polytechnic campus and the downtown campus as my second choice. If I'll have to apply again next semester, west campus is too far (about an hour), but maybe I'll move to make it work! I'm the same as you, I'll take the first school that accepts me! Question- how did your asu advisor calculate that you were .14 from the cutoff from last year? Since last year it was based off of 7 points and this is the first semester it's based off of 6 points. I'm curious to know how he/she calculated that. Good luck to you too! I am already so anxious for the acceptance/rejection letters! Please let me know on here if you get in!
I know that he added my GPA, Math & Reading scores and then compared it to the previous semester cutoff score minus the avg essay score. He said the avg essay score was .75 The scores he compared my points to were from the Spring 08 applicants who applied the previous year. At the time I met with him, ASU hadn't released all of the statistics for the recent Fall 08 applicants.
I'm sure his math calculation logic wasn't perfect, but at least it gave me an idea. Hopefully he wasn't too far off. (It gives me hope)
I've already been on ASU's nursing website to see when the next Advancement Workshops will be held.(not until Sept) Have to get situated my gameplan for the next application cycle.

Jeym7,
We are in the same boat. I too applied to the comm. colleges Oct 2007 and applied to ASU spring 09. Poly is my first choice but I only have 4.85 of the 6 points, so its in God's Hands for me! Hopefully we will get into ASU and also placed for the comm. colleges for Spring and then have a choice!
Everyone, please keep us all posted! Thanks!

I applied for ASU spring 2009 as well....I'm dying to hear if I got in ... Just like all of you...... My scores are about the same as yours....It seems like a lot of people scored in the 70's for reading.... As did I... Was any one else bugged by their reading score when they first got it?? I was! I know they said at the workshop that the reading is the hardest part... but I didn't think I would score that low... I guess Im at least in the average range...
So who else is still taking remaining pre-req's?? If so where are you taking them...I think I've seen one or two faces on campus from the workshop I attended.
I am taking 4 courses at GCC. PSY230/231, PHI103, HCR210, HCR240... Anyone taking those????
I'm taking my last 2 pre-req, PSY 230 and HCR 230, both online through RIO. I took PHI 103 online over the summer and it was the dumbest, least logical, couldn't make heads or tails class ever!! Good Luck! HCR 240 is super interesting, that I kept the text. Good luck!
Yeah.... Im not looking forward to the logic class.... The only way I could get the HCR into my schedule was online, and while it's sufficient I would have really preferred to take it in person. Oh well. I'm still enjoying it online.
