Hi everyone
My name is Chris, I currently live in Sacramento, CA but moving to Dallas TX in the next few weeks. I'm 26 years old and have been thinking of going back to school, and I've concluded that RN is the career for me. I love helping people, and to know that I will contribute to help save lives really makes me want to do this, the monetary compensation is secondary for me.
My concern is that I need to work full time to help support my family, and to pay for my education. My concern is that I have not found any RN programs that offer night/weekend classes. Since I have to pay cash for my education, I can't afford those private expensive universities, and would need to attend a junior college. I was hoping you guys can help shine some light on how I can go about finding a school and get started. I currently have my High School diploma, but I'm highly motivated and dedicated to sacrificing myself for the next 3-4 years in order to achieve this goal.
Thanks guys :)

Associate degree nursing programs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area include El Centro, Brookhaven, Tarrant County College, Collin County College, Trinity Valley Community College, Weatherford College, Hill College, and a few others.
Sorry, but I don't know of any community colleges in the area that offer night / weekend options.

Nursing school is a full time endeavor. I do not believe any of the DFW schools have night/weekend schedules. I do not know how the WGU nursing degree works but I think most of their academic stuff is online, but how they are working skills lab and clinicals would be something I know nothing about. Might be worth a call to them. Be prepared though to be unable to do both a full time job and nursing school. It is pretty rare anyone can successfully make that work, particularly if they have a family with children. I wish you well.

Would it be possible to work nights & weekends so you can focus on your education? Just a thought.

Texas Woman's University has a night/weekend program for a BSN. It is a 2 year program ( including summers ) mainly geared to working professionals and those persuing nursing as a 2nd degree. However, I think they have done away with the previous degree requirement.
