Asking people out from work

I work in a float pool as a pct at my local hospital. I meet this really cute girl at my job who is also a pct on a specific floor. Is it a really a bad idea to ask her out if I don't know her that well? Chances are I won't see her much since I work everywhere if she said no. Some people say stay away from dating people in my hospital, but the amount of people that work there is in the thousands.

    What? Why would that be?

    I think it would be fine (more than fine) with most women if a guy came up and said, "Hi, I'm so-and-so and I work float. I noticed you and would really love to take you or for a coffee sometime."

    It's called asking a girl out and used to be regarded as normal. When did that become creepy?

    Why should it affect his professional reputation? Many people who are married now met at work. I don't see the big deal. It's not like they are in the same dept. I say go for it!! All she can say is no. I've dated people I worked with before. It doesn't always work out, but you have to take a chance now and then. :yes:
