as difficult as being in the actual program? Like, are there heavy reading loads/homework/study time? Im just curious how my first few semester at my nursing school will be because I will be taking a few pre-req courses.
Does this makes sense? Im getting kind of sleepy!:imbar

It depends, really, on how fast you pick things up and how motivated you can remain.
For me, when I returned to school at 32, things were relatively easy because my brain had been on vacation for so long that it was just eager to learn. :) I'm done with my pre-reqs right now, but the classes I'm in this semester are equally as challenging. There is a lot of reading and study time, but I hear from my friends who got into the nursing program that their reading load is much higher.

Hopefulstudent7,
I am constantly saying to myself "nursing school can't really be harder than these prereqs"... but from what I understand actual NS is much more challenging. So YES, you can expect loads of homework and studytime(even without prereqs). Most schools actually prefer that students take all prerequisites b4 they begin nursing school, and around here you must take all sciences, maths, & eng b4 entering NS.
It might be challenging but U can do it.

Before I actually applied to this school I noticed how everyone on here talked about how they had to have certain classes out of the way before even being considered for the nursing program, this school(I dont think) is like that!?
I'm sure you can't take certain nursing classes until those certain pre reqs are taken but I guess thats why I get a bit confused! Because everyone talks about pre-nursing and actually being in the program. Im guessing those who are taking pre reqs havent been accepted to the program yet?

Yep, that would be me. I'm currently "pre" and won't apply until I have all of the prereqs finished, or darn close (a couple of deadlines come before my last quarter). Seems to be the trend around here that while you can get in without having them done, it's few and far between. There is one program here (Omaha NE) that integrates nursing classes and prereqs into a 4 year program, but I already had half of the reqs done for another degree and didn't really look into it.

Yeah..as previous posters have commented, at my school they say you can get in without prerequisites but it's just not the case. It's competitive for these programs so you have to prove yourself before you even get in. I don't see WHY they say you can get in without prerequisites because I honestly haven't heard of anyone doing it. Good luck!

A&P I+II proved to be quite a challenge they are really the first Nursing relevant courses. You'll start to get a feel on the types of topics you're going to learn.
