Hi all,

I know this is a nursing forum, and that this post has nothing to do with the nature or the forum. If the moderator feels like my post is inadequate, please feel free to delete it and/or warn me (in which case I apologize in advance)! ;)

I'm currently working on my pre-reqs to then hopefully be able to apply for nursing school.

In the meantime, I have to work on research papers for school and was wondering if you could answer the following questions with your first impressions or ideas.

To you, what is happiness?

Would you say you are a happy person or not? And why?

What makes you happy? And what makes you sad?

Thanks in advance for your answers, which will sure help me a lot!

Monica

Happiness has nothing to do with circumstances, happiness is the joy found in ones spirit.

:welcome:

The older I get the happier I get because I am more and more able to do what I really want to do and fulfill my goals..... Financial stability has a lot to do with it, younger people are struggling more financially and don't have time to persue their true interests as much. Especially if they have small children to care for.

I find happiness in the simple things in life.... baking sugar cookies at X-Mas time, a hike and picnic in the park, a good glass of wine, time spent with my husband, children and pets etc. you get the picture ;)

The destruction of our planet and the uneven distribution of wealth makes me very unhappy. Maybe some day we will find a way so that there is enough food and medicine for every human being.

Good luck with your research

I shuffled your post over the the Nursing Student Assistance forum. I think as a pre-nursing student, we're going to allow you to ask your questions if it will help you towards your goal of becoming a nurse. :)

Happiness is accepting current circumstances, not matter what they are. It comes from within.

I'm content with my life at the moment, but not overly happy. I'm middle aged, 10 lbs overweight, just ended a 10 year relationship and not looking forward to being single or dating. So I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I can't say I'm happy right now. Generally, I have always had goals so it seems I'm not happy.

My dogs and family make me happy. War, poverty, abusive people, homophobia makes me sad.

I truly believe life is what you make it! For example although I am in a terrible financial situation right now, however I am very happy. I have 3 delightful, healthy children and an amazing husband. When times get rough and I can barely put food on the table, I am always able to remember what blessings I do have and try not to dwell on the "things" I don't have!;)

No one seemed to answer your first quistion, which was , What is happiness? While there are particular things that bring happiness to everyone, happiness is a personal choice that we chose to accept or reject. It is an inner attitude that we control regardless of external circumstances we cannot control.

I am a very happy person because God has blessed me with a great wife and 2 good children.

Doing anything with my family makes me happy, especially traveling.

As to what makes me unhappy, it would be the decline of our society, the unthankfulness of younger people, and un-patriotic people.

Ain't this the truth!!!!, my true happiness comes from believing in God, and knowing that he is always on my side, yes indeed happiness is found within, I love that!!;)

Thank you all for answering the questions I posted. Your answers helped me alot!!!

Thanks again!!!! ;)
