Jan 28, 201016 yr So who is applying for nursing school this year? And where are you applying? I am applying to Concord Tech, Manchester Community(if they ever stop fighting with me) and Great Bay.GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!:)
Mar 11, 201016 yr I would at least call and ask what number you on the list so you can get a picture in your mind if you have another options.
Mar 11, 201016 yr Great Bay must be a little different then the other schools, i was under the impression that if you were not accepted to the nursing program you were welcome to reapply next year...as there is no permanent wait list, just the one that is in place while the people who got accepted except the postiton. So I don't understand how you friend would still be on a list. Do you know for sure she is? I think she should have to follow the readdmission policy...not just get ushered in for round two...peopel have been waiting long and working hard. She failed because she either didn't put the effort in, or simply applied for the wrong reasons. Good luck, but call to see where you are on that list!!!
Mar 11, 201016 yr From what I understood and I could be wrong... GB takes most of the people on the list the following year. I was told, I didnt need to take the NLN again....which would expire soon...so I assumed I didnt need to resubmit everything again next year. She had said that they contacted her, told her she was on the wait list from the year before and asked if she was still interested. She told me she got into great bay, I said "I didnt know you applied" and she said, " I didnt, I was on the wait list from last year" so I assume they used her previous application information.... Does that make sense? I did call about my number on the list but have yet to hear back. Dont they know how important this is to us :)
Mar 11, 201016 yr Got my acceptance letter from Great Bay yesterday, they were dated the eighth but postmarked the ninth, so don't sweat it yet. Sometimes letters arrive at my box weeks after they're dated from Great Bay. BUT, first round of tuition deposits are due by the 22nd, after that they should start picking from the waitlist. As far as that goes, it's my understanding that there are fifty six seats, and 20 applicants waitlisted. The waitlist is semi-permanent, in that applicants from the waitlist who were not offered a seat last year, are the first chosen of the fifty-six, then they accept new applicants, so there is no three year wait, as I've seem some suggest on other threads. It's also my understanding that many students are accepted to multiple schools, so waitlisted students often ARE offered a spot in the program because accepted applicants choose to go elsewhere. I am a current student at Great Bay, have completed A+P 1+2, and had a 99% composite and 99's in verbal, math and science, with a really high composite score on the NLN. Don't lose hope yet. Hope this info helps all, Joe
Mar 11, 201016 yr Ok, I just got off the phone with them...im number 11 on the list. I do NOT have to apply again for fall 2011...The list never goes away..they just close it until next year when everyone on the list gets in if they are still interested. She also said that last year....10 people moved from the list into the program. The 10 that were left on the list got in for this fall.
Mar 11, 201016 yr So there could still be hope Crookededna, fingers crossed...So I should be getting a letter in the mail soon then from what other people are saying??!!
Mar 11, 201016 yr wow that is crazy...how different it is for all the other community colleges. At the info sessions at manch and nashua they make a poit to say, there is no waitlist, those who apply and our not accepted be the beging of the program must re apply the following year, with way i hope you get in! I know how much it must mean to you! :)
Mar 11, 201016 yr Does anyone know why the letters are starting out from GB so early this year last year it was the beginig of April!? Were there less applicants? Its just SOOO much earlier. Not that I'm complaining though
Mar 11, 201016 yr Thanks! Ill keep you posted as to when I hear from the other schools. I remember last year my friends had heard from all of the schools around the same time.
Mar 12, 201016 yr Author Congrats to those have heard. I do know that the lady who used to lead up the admissions process at gbcc left this past fall. So there was new people doing the process. which could mean different "standards" or processes. I haven't heard from any school yet. I don't live to far from GBCC, so maybe I will get mine soon!!
Mar 12, 201016 yr I did really bad on NLN.. it was much different for dental hygiene when i had to take the nln.. it was atleast a composite score of 50..but they mostly judge you on the pre reqs and the grades you got.. the nln was worth minimal points.. so i just took nln didnt study .. then i ended hygiene just this last fall semester and barelly met deadlines for 10'.. so i didnt get a chance to study or re take.. but my composite for what they told me for hygiene was a 78.. which is very low.. so who knows! whats meant to be will happen.. if not i will reapply and be more prepared next year! plus im expecting a baby sept. 15th and my hands might be very full!!:idea:
Mar 12, 201016 yr i did got to a manch. info session and the lady said that they do have a waitlist and most years usually go right through the waitlist.. which seemed surprising but thats what she said!
