Applying to USAF

Hi everyone!

I'm graduating from nursing school in may 2010 and I just started the application process for the usaf... Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I have been talking with my recruiter for the past couple weeks and he may come visit with my family and i the first week in sept... I feel like there is so much to do and i don't even know where to begin!!! Are there any tips for me? School starts this wed so i'm trying to take care of as much as possible! Also, I read another posting that said that you aren't guaranteed to get your first choice for where you will be stationed; however, my recruiter said for new grads it is pretty much 100%! Has any one else heard this? Thanks in advanced!

Hi there. i graduate in December, just started the process as well. Recruiters can't guarantee anything. Thats all i know :-/ Keep a positive attitude and hope for the best despite any discouraging words you will hear.

Hey!

I graduate in May 2010 as well. I have gone to the MEPS and passed that. I also went and had my nurse interview and that went fabulously. I just have 1 more paper to fill out but my recruiter is not returning any of my calls....hmm....harass him some more I suppose. I won't find out till November if I am in or not so I am going to be sitting and waiting ever so "patiently". As for placement my recruiter said all of his past recruits have all gotten their first choices.

But the person who said recruiters can promise nothing is correct.

As someone else posted on this forum, if you're going into the AF contingent on your getting a specific assignment you might be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Speaking as someone who spent time in the AF enlisted and was raised as a US Navy brat (with two brothers who have both retired from the military as well), I can tell you that the only thing that's 100% guaranteed in the military is that NOTHING'S 100% guaranteed.

Hi Sarah,

I won't find out until Nov. if I am accepted either. I am also waiting patiently. When will you be going to COT?

When I get in I will be going to COT most likely August 2010.

Sarah
