I am beginning a MSN program at U of Phoenix, and they require all papers to be written in APA format.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a software program that they have used with success?
Thanks,

My Grad program (I don't know of one that doesn't) required APA style, and they were very rigorous about content perfection. One of my fellow students had gotten the APA's downloadable program, but found she ran into glitches using it with her word processing program. You absolutely need a current version of the APA manual, and if you still want software, try the APA website.... I think it's apa.org, but you can google it to be sure.
good luck with your grad program!!

I did my MSN through UofP. Believe me, don't waste your money on the software - get the book (latest edition too) and that is the only thing I would buy. APA format is enforced rigidly. Good luck.

endnote endnote endnote
I cannot say enough good things about it! I used refworks, the APA software etc - all had glitches and issues. Then I found EndNote - never again will I ever write anything without it.
They do have student pricing btw, you have to hunt for it, and then you have to fax something in, but it is about half price. Or you can buy an older version - 8 is good - on ebay or at half.com.

Perfect APA (and thousands of other formats spelled out by journals) every single time, without hassles.
They even offer free web training if you need it!
ETA: my last paper had over 70 refs in it - and the bib literally wrote itself as I wrote the paper - there was not a single error in it or in any of the refs!

The APA software doesn't work with MAC computers (just in case that is what you have).
The APA brand software didnt work for anybody I knew!
Endnote does work for MAC - you have to get the mac version though.
Thanks gauge14iv, When I go back to graduate school I will try that program. Thank goodness for my BSN I had an instructor who was a stickler for APA so I was pretty proficient by the end of the twenty month program, but I am not going to start my next program until March of 07, who knows what I'll forget by then.
Wish I had known about the endnote program when I was toiling over 5 long papers at one sitting for Grad projects.
Again, as I've said, each time u post in here, u will get information that does help.

Heh!
I think time spent spinning wheels on APA could SO be better spent on CONTENT (go figure!) Let the software do the APA work. I know some schools and some disciplines are now requiring their students to use EndNote. My son is an engineering student and he uses it - but not for APA - for some other format they use.
The other thing I liked about Endnote, was that it downloads everything right from Ebsco, Ovid or the other databases, I never had to type an authors name or journal title! I also used it to catlog all the PDF's of the articles I saved so I can find them whenever I want them again just by keyword searching in endnote right on my own hard drive.

I've used APA PERRLA for 5 classes, if you read the notes that come up with the bibs, etc., it leads to where in the book you can find more information. Software is definately worth it, PERRLA was not expensive at all, but Works is too slow, simple for it. I have the Student edition of Office, which I also need to be able to submit papers. Microsoft works isn't up to speed for that either.
Has anyone heard of easypaper software? How about style ease?
Thanks.
