Anyone use CareDox?

We have used CareDox for a little over two years. Previously, the nurses charted in PowerSchool...totally not nurse friendly. I started right about the time of the switch, so I really don't know any different.

It's got its positives & negatives. I like that I can schedule meds, treatments, follow ups, etc., and they're all laid out on my "dashboard" for me to see. I wish you could set reminder popups though. Charting visits is pretty simple with some drop down fields with options (reason for visit, treatments) and then text boxes for narrative note charting. Parents can get an account and keep medical information up to date for their kids.

As far as communicating...what are you hoping it does? Or doesn't do? Our IT worked with CareDox to make some communication between systems possible. I can enter medical information that teachers need to know into PowerSchool and it carries over to a field in CareDox, but I do still go into CareDox and put in more details for my benefit. We do still enter vaccines twice because CareDox doesn't communicate backwards with PowerSchool in that capacity and we need them in PowerSchool for our seniors' transcripts. But, we can pull vaccines from our state registry very easily into CareDox. So, it's *kind of* like we only enter them once.

You can scan & upload documents into CareDox. I put notes from parents, restrictions for injuries from doctors, emergency plans...just about anything in there.

It can be a little cumbersome to enter screenings sometimes. There is a way to do a bulk pass/fail (ie you can go in and pass everyone on a vision screen and just go back into the ones that failed and change) but I like to put in the actual acquity so I have to go into each child's record. I wish there was an easier way to do that.

I guess I like it well enough. Like I said, though, I really don't know much different.

Hopefully our IT department can make it talk to our FOCUS program. If it will download immi records from the state database, I will be a very happy person!!

We were told it will notify parent IN REAL TIME when their child signs into the clinic. That feature had better be turned off for us.

If that is possible (I've never been aware of that feature), we have it turned off.

Our supervisor was told that, and it does allude to it on their website. Glad to hear it doesn't do that for you! We heard that and we all groaned.

It drives me crazy that it says "cleansed" in the treatment dropdown box! Such a little thing but I mentally cringe every time I say that I "cleansed" a skinned knee!

I hate that it's so many clicks to record a med given if I can't record it in the exact minute I give it: Click the kid's name. Click time in. Click time out. Click "yes" it was given. Click time given. Click to save. If I can manage to do it when the student takes it, It's only three: click name. Click yes. Click save. But that usually isn't possible. I haven't found a way to document screenings without going in to each students name individually; I wish it would just roll to the next student. I have a ton of other things I don't care for but I am maybe hypercritical because I helped to build a documentation system and I know what it would be capable of with very little effort (mnemonics among other things).

If all you want is a pass/fail I can get you those steps on Monday.

Im curious why you need to put immunizations into PS at all. If the nsg dept is the only ones that need access to immunization info, I don't understand why it would need to be in Power School.
