Anyone else bored??

Published

As an LPN of almost 13 years, I've done OR, med-surg, urgent care, and private duty home health, but I'm bored senseless! I feel trapped, like there's nowhere else to go. Anyone else bored and ready to move on and do something else in nursing? I'm using this as my primary motivation to return to school and begin work on my ADN, but just wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

I've worked in LTC on and off for 6 years and have spent the past 2 years in acute rehab. Many moons ago I did a short stint in acute psych as a medication nurse, and although I loved it, the psychiatric hospital was located more than 50 miles from my house.

I'm ready to do something else, too. I interviewed for a group home position last week and it seems somewhat promising. My interviewers told me they'd be giving me a call this upcoming week because they would be off on Thanksgiving and the day after. Since the job seems so flexible, I hope they're considering me. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I can't tell if I am just bored or burnt out, but YES I am needing a change. I dread going back to work on my days off so I don't get to enjoy those. We are short staffed so no one can get any needed vacation time off. It is so draining. :(

I'd love to work in any of those settings, but the hospitals in my area don't hire LPNs at all--consider yourself lucky!! I interviewed at an urgent care center but they chose someone with more experience, but I would have loved it.

I get really bored sometimes. Needing a change as well, but the thought of trying to go to school, work full time AND have time to exercise and have a family life....draining for sure. So I stay stuck. Sad. And I'm 54 ! What to do, what to do....?
