Just wondering - anyone out there applying for admission to Nursing Program through Dallas County Community College District for Fall '06 (or even Spring '07) admission?
I am in the process - can you say SHOTS!! Let me hear from you - we need to support each other!

Hi Dream,
I'm applying to Brookhaven for Fall '06 and the El Centro LVN program as a backup. I finally got all my transcripts from my Bachelor's degree so know I can finally see what will transfer.
I'm planning on taking a trip to Brookhaven on Thurs., after my kids are back in school, to start the assessment process and pick up the study guide for the HESI exam.
Look forward to seeing who else will be sharing this journey with us.

I am! :) I'm applying for NLC as my first choice.
Good luck to you all!
Hey Fun - how is Math going? I know you will do great!!
Sandy - good to hear from you! Have you taken any classes toward the nursing pre-requisites yet? I have to take the NET test and am going to do that sometime this month - prior to Jan. 17th classes. I love the time when my kids are out of school - but I always look forward to them going back!!!:) Is the LVN program your route?
I'm applying to El Centro since it is closer to my home. Fun I wish NL was closer - at least with two options I might have a stronger chance to be accepted. But Rowlett to Irving is a bit tooooooo far!!
Fun - have you done shots yet? I did today and have felt really sick:imbar ! Feverish and just yucky!! Had to get tetorifice, Hep (1st in the series), TB test and blood drawn for Titers on the rest.
Sandy - let us know how everything goes at Brookhaven this week!
Sorry to hear the shots have you down, hope you're feeling better soon.
My ultimate goal is to get accepted into the Brookhaven RN program for Fall '06. My back up plan if I don't get accepted at Brookhaven is to apply for the LVN program through El Centro. The LVN program is only a year and after I get 6 months work experience I can do the LVN-RN bridge. Still come out with an RN just taking a different route.:)
I completed English, Speech and Psych when I got my Bachelor's degree so I'm hoping they transfer over. That's what I'll find out on Thurs. I also took a class that was similar to Dev. Psych that I'm hoping will transfer as well. Since my degree was in social work I only had to take basic science classes like Intro to Chemistry and Biology but it's been more than 10 years since I took those classes so I'm having to take them again. I took A&P I and Chemistry last semester and got B's in both of those. I was happy for those grades because science and math have always been challenges for me which was why I got a social work degree in the first place.:chuckle
This semester I'm taking A&P II, Pharmacology and Pathophysiology which are Brookhaven prereq's. Unfortunately, Brookhaven and El Centro have different entrance exams so I'm focusing on studying for the HESI right now. The NET will be my plan B, so I'll worry about that later.
Hope this isn't too long, I'm just so excited and my husband is tired of hearing about I'm sure so I had to get it out somewhere.
The Algebra class is going good....so far. I don't have my 3rd test grade yet, nor my midterm grade. (I took the midterm today, and the testing environment wasn't good. The lights went off, it was hot, the staff was loud the whole time...ugggh)
I do have a 100 average on my quizzes so far, though. The quizzes average together for 1 test grade.
I made a 100 on my first test, and a 96 on the second.
I hope I can keep it up. The midterm & final are what's worrying me. They count for so much, and are only 33 questions!
Enough about that.... I have all of my required shots already b/c I applied for Spring. I have to go get a new physical, and get another HepA. (I'm doing HepA just because.)
This Algebra class ends on the 13th, so whenever I get my transcript with this grade, I'll go down and apply for Fall 06. (I just hope I get the transcript b/4 the 26th. I don't want to make two trips, if I can help it.) :)
I hope you are feeling better by tomorrow. Sometimes immunizations does that to people. I always gave my girls Tylenol before I went to get them their shots. I guess it's your body's defense mechanism fighting the varmits in the shots. :chuckle
I live in Arlington, and will drive to NLC. (HOPEFULLY) ECC is too far, unless that is the only way I can get in. I'll take either.
Again, good luck to everyone. Hopefully, more people will visit. :)
OK Fun and Sandy - are we the only ones applying to DCCCD for Fall '06?!?!? I find that hard to believe!
Fun - I am so proud of you on such AWESOME grades in Alg. You little brainiac you! What are you taking this next semester? Are you sure you don't want to change your major - we need good Math teachers :chuckle ! You could always be an Algebra tutor for pre-nursing students :chuckle !
I've had family in for the holidays and now the kids have gone back to school, which, in turn, has given one of the kids Strep Throat - CHAOS! Such is life. Not to mention that I have a list a mile long of "to do's" before Jan. 17 classes begin !! And did I mention that my washing machine broke down just I began my first load (of about 18 since I was VERRRYYY behind) of laundry on Friday!!!
But, I just found a great deal on my Micro book, I take my NET test on Wednesday, my CPR the beginning of Feb, I've gotten my transcript, I've cleaned my house, painted my daughter's bathroom, painted my dining room, washed ALL the laundry with my new SUPER DE DUPER washing machine and new dryer!!! :roll Woooohoooo life is pretty good right now in the grand scheme of things!!!!!! Sleep - what is that and who needs it - too much to do and not enough hours in a day!!
OK, so I'm a little hyper! Actually just excited that I'm about to have everything ready to go for my application and I am excited about school. I'm a little strange I guess because I LOVE these A&P classes - and I am not being at all sarcastic!
Good luck to both of you. Gotta go - My New Dryer is calling my name. It's contents are all hot and steamy and can't wait for me to get my hands on them and fold them :chuckle
I'm sure more will find their way here soon. lol
As for Algebra....NO FREAKIN' WAY! :rotfl: I can't stand the stuff! I am busting my butt! I have 1 test left, and the final. I ended up with a 99 on the third test and a 92 on the midterm. (Which is a little upsetting b/c of the conditions....)
Now, I can only pray for an A. This last test & the final are going to put me in the nut house! (Why in the world do we need to learn determinants, geometric sequences, etc....can't there be a special class for those too?) hahahha
They're not that hard, it's just I have to take my final on or before this Friday (THE 13TH!) :uhoh21: I really didn't want to wait until the last day, but I have to try to get all of these formulas down b/4 I can take my last test, and b/4 I can study for my final. uggggh
One good thing is that I just finished my last quiz, so I have a 100 quiz average....(Which actually is a 100 on for my 7th test.)
Sorry for the chaos at your house. One good thing about your W&D....you have a new toy! hahahaha It'll be fun washing clothes in it for, ummmmmm, maybe a day...then it will get old. HAHA
OK, gotta run study! BBL! (Good luck on your NET & CPR class.)

Thanks Jess! I hope first day of NS for you was great! :)
Took the NET test today:uhoh3: ! I must say that it was not an easy test! I have studied for a week from the study guide and I did great on the math portion - but the reading was VERY difficult. I am amazed since I love to read and I understand everything that I read! Oh well - I PASSED - and that is all that counts (even though I eeked by on the reading portion!). BUT I PASSED!!!! Wooooo hooooo!!
Anyone out there - yoohoo calling anyone from the Dallas area........
Congrats! :balloons: I know I did better on the Math portion as well, which was really a shocker.
At least now you have that behind you!
