I feel like those two well know historical explorers must have felt, finding this forum, exploring and discussing Nursing in Illinois!
Many People believe there is no Illinois south of Chicago. And just as many People believe that my hometown of Anomaly, Il. is just outside of Normal. When, in actuality, Anomaly is nowhere near Normal!
My dear ol' dead Daddy use to say, "The best place to start is at the beginning".
I guess my actual Nursing career began in 1979 when I became certified as an EMT through a program offered by the local community college:
Oh! Here's a photograph of me in front of a sort of portrait/sign that hung in the Moe Howard Memorial Hall.
I believe it was taken in 1987, the year I entered the Larry & Curly RN Program as an LPN.
Maybe not...
Many Nursing Students have to work to pay their way through Nursing School, as did I.
Here's photograph of me, taken in the late '80's, working, exhibiting my wares, outside the community college entrance:
Anomaly was established in 1830 by its namesake, Ima Anomaly. It was incorporated as a village in 1991.
The Municipal Offices are working on plans to have indoor plumbing by 2019!

A great man who built railroads and schools, although he suffered from rhinotillexis mucrophagy.

Ima Anomaly built the first college this far west in the 1830's. He named the college after his friend, and benefactor, Monty Hall.
Monty Hall's name was changed in 1970 and became what it is presently known by, Larry and Curly Community College.
Here's an early photograph of Mr. Hall and the institution which held his name:
This photograph, when Life magazine did a story on Monty Hall, was taken in 1946.
I wonder if any of these ladies are still around?
Back in 1984, my Baby Brother, Gumby Do, drew a picture of what I must look like at work!
What a card!
I'm gonna hafta deal with him!

Feelin you on the Chicago comment, my family that lives downwind (any and all humor currently at an impasse) will eventually leave Illinois because of it!
Our next state move will be thoroughly investigated prior to crossing state lines...lesson learned dammit!
