Ok, I'm thinking ahead a bit but I am curious and would love some opinions. I am graduating with my BSN in December. It's my first degree and I will be 36...I also have 8 kids and a husband of 16 years. I'm wondering if it would be weird to send out announcements to friends and family? I'm not really looking for gifts, just really proud and want everyone to know I finally did it! Lol

I agree, you've worked hard... If it's something you want to do, go for it!

I agree to! There is nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishment! You've worked hard, made sacrifices (I'm sure), and earned it!! I'm sure you're family and friends will be thrilled you want to share it with them.

DO IT. I think I'll rent a billboard next year at my graduation. Definitely a full page ad in the paper. Hey, it's a big deal.

I had a family member do that and added no gifts necessary just your celebration. And anyone that asked her mother (she wasn't married ) mom said make a donation in her honor to her college scholarship fund for other students or to St Jude's.

Announcements totally appropriate.

I agree with JustBeachy. Send them out and be proud that you have accomplished this difficult task, just put no gifts please. I am going to have a giant party when I graduate and I do not want a gift just want people to celebrate that I finally did it at the ripe old age of 40. That's how old I will be when I graduate. I think it is very cool. Have fun and enjoy it.

Everyone who knew me knew I was graduating and how much work had gone intothis so after graduation I reserved an area at a local bar/restaurant and had friends come celebrate with me

Thanks for all your replies! I'm going to do it, I can't wait! I've been through a lot to get to where I am, it will be such a great feeling to finally celebrate!
