I have been working as a LPN for 7 years, with bachlor degree of chemistry back home, I almost done my BN in athabasca university, but due to some reasons, I was kicked out (I completed about 20 courses from AU, but I don't want to give up my BN, so I am thinking of transferring to other universsity, anyone have any advices? thanks millions; I am in Calgary, AB

How about lethbridge University ? they have fast track BN program

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

You know that wherever you apply they're going to want to know why you were "kicked out" of AU's program. That may effectively prevent you from finishing your degree.

I failed of twice of clinic, due to some stupid reasons...according to the policy, I have to drop out, that's all, I feel shame of myself;

Twice? I can see ONE stupid reason but two? Any university that would take you must be desperate for money. Take some type of aide course, get some exoeriance in health care, build references, improve your English. Show you are trying to grow. If you make a lot of stupid mistakes, well stupid people should not be nurses.

It's pretty unheard of to fail clinical time. The skills you are demonstrating are just what you do as an LPN here in Alberta with a few add on.

Poor skills puts the patients at risk, never mind your self esteem

I appreciate your frankness, I am not numb person, I have my own sucessful business, I don't have to be depend on my nurse job....

The reasons I want to be RN is due to lack of respect from other people if you are a LPN;

If you can offer advice, pls do; if you don't, pls don't question the degree of how stupid I am....

Wow!!! The last post was mean. Do not feel bad you can always learn from your mistakes. Just don't give up. Nursing school can be hard. It's even harder when you are trying to work as an LPN. :)

Well I'm sorry you didn't like my advice(es)

In my years of nursing school, in both the PN and RN programs, I had one classmate who failed clinical. She was doing poorly, so the teacher buddied her up with another student. Did not help. The teacher spent extra time with her, encouraged her to practice in the lab, yet she did not improve. However she did manage to run down a classmate (ME!) with a w/c. She left rails down, and beds up. Could even figure out how to change and bum. Everything was hard. Yet it still came to a big shock to her when at the end to the term, she failed. Now, this may come to a shock to some of you, but being the NICE, person I am, I had agreed to drive her home, so I got to spend then following twenty minutes listening to her talk about how shocked she was, the teacher was out to get her and the reasons she failed were stupid, when in fact they were very serious.

daisy, I tell you the truth: the 1st time I failed is due to instructor suspected someone help me with my essay, but she said me just not confident in clinic as a reason to fail me; the 2nd time I submited a wrong paper by mistake (I am honest it's a mistake, that time I am so busy, so rash), but resulted in plgariarism, so I was kicked out.....

No matter how stupid you think I am, I told you, I have my own business, I don't have to work...

The reason you want to become an RN is due to "lack of respect" if you're a practical nurse? I don't mean to be rude, but wow grow up. You have some serious esteem issues- nursing is about providing quality care with compassion, love, and skill. Nurses are very under appreciated, so if you're image is that important to you, maybe you should reconsider your career choice.

U r right, nurse is under appreciated, but if comparing rn to Lpn, obveriously, rn job is better and paid more, I still work, just because I need money to expand my business, maybe I should just focus on my business, forget the rn programm....

If you got kicked out for academic dishonesty I doubt any school will accept you. That and it's extremely competitive to get in anywhere even if you weren't kicked out.
