I agree with "all" of these posts. And, yes, I too suck at Math. But, I have a 3.5 GPA. Although, majority of my classes are not Math classes. I "believe", if I had to take higher Maths. I'd push to make an "A".

I'm curious, while home schooling your children, did you NOT tell them that the sky is the limit? I'm 36 and I still "believe" I can do anything.... Of course, I'm not perfect.

Bottom Line... You can do this!!! And, you are going to do this even if you have to study twice as hard a fellow classmates. :)

You CAN do this. My inlaws also gave me and my husband a hard time about my being in school. Of course, after being in class for a few years (I had to transfer schools in the middle, my husband is military) and doing really well, they finally shut up.

I just graduated with my RN in May. Strange as it sounds, science is where I have my biggest problem. Math I breeze through, but science kicks my tale. But I did it and so can you. I also started school in my thirties.

Good luck and don't worry about what other people say. It could be that they are jealous of you. It takes guts to go out and do something for yourself. :)

I think you've gotten great advice here! You CAN do whatever you want to do! I started my nursing school journey by taking two developmental math classes and one developmental english! Now I'm soring! You can do it too! Don't give up! And don't take any crap from anyone!!

Ask for help from your teachers! Find out if there is a Learning Center on your campus where you can get help with classes! You will find help if you look!!

I am 39 years old and a single mother of 2 (16, 14) and I just went back to school 2 semesters ago. When I took the entrance exam, I too scored low, so I had to take math 98 and 99 (remedial cl***es) I had a high A average in both cl***es and barely p***ed Algebra in high school. What I have found out is that as I've gotten older, my study habits have improved! As well as my motivation for learning. Get a good calculator and get started, you won't be sorry! I've got 2 more semesters of pre-reqs and I start my nursing cl***es in the fall of 2003 and I'm so excited!

oh dear I really stink at math studied for a few week just to p*** the algebra part I too moved most of my life and missed alot of math but if it is in your heart and soul to do this job you can p*** math;)

LADY BUG, I am really horrible at math like algebra and everything. I thought I would never get into nursing school because of my math grades. I had to re-take intermediate Algebra AND college algebra. Well, I am in school now and I do really well on the drug calculation test. Pass every semester. I am doing REALLY well in nursing school. Last semester I made dean's honor roll and so far this semester it looks like I will be on the list again.

Anything is possible when you set your mind to it. You have to believe in yourself and keep telling yourself I am capable and I can do anything I set my mind to. It takes a lot of hard work but it will be hard work that pays off in the long run with determination and confidence.

I have escaped an VERY emotionally abusive realtionship at a young age with a newborn baby as a single mom and when I first started college I did not do so well because I was still so emotionally hurt and I was still thinking about my daughter's father despite all the emotional stuff he put me through. Well, here I am 4 years later and I am one semester away from graduation with my bachelor's degree and 2 years ago back in December 2000 I earned my Associate's degree in Liberal arts. I am almost 23 and my daughter just turned 5.

Anyone can make it If I can make it through.

Jean listen really really good here: YOU ARE NOT KIDDING YOURSELF!!!!! okay, now, I was 28 when I started my prerequisites and i too did well on that darn test except for the math. I took the math class that they required to get into the program and got a B. I am now in my last semester of a 2 year program and I haven't had any difficulties with the math calculations or anything. I will be the first person in my family to graduate with any degree. I wouldn't let anyone tell you you can't do this. You are setting an excellent example for your children and doing what is right for you. Congratulations on taking the first step!!! You will do great! You have your own cheering section right here when ever you need us!!!!
