Advice needed

The only thing you can do is be honest. They probably have your name on record as a past employee, don't they? They will see that you left without notice but you could explain the reason you left, and maybe elaborate on it a little and maybe they'll give you another shot. You never know. You won't know until you try it. Good luck!

Most hospitals will put your name on the "do not rehire list" if you quit without notice. They may be afraid if you did it once you may do it again. Your best bet would be to contact human resources and explain why you left so suddenly and couldn't give notice and see if there is someone you could talk to about your chance of being re-hired. Also if your former manager is still there and you made a good impression on him/her they may be able to put in a good word for you. Do you have a good track record at the place you've worked since becoming an RN or have you job-hopped? This could work for or against you as well. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else above. If asked whether you've worked there previously, answer 'yes'. It's the truth. Then take it from there. If asked to elaborate on the topic, then you can explain what went wrong. That was 2005. Depending on your reasoning behind leaving without notice, coupled with the fact that this occurred over 5 years ago, it may work in your favor. If it's meant to be, nothing can stop you from getting this job.

One of two things will happen. 1. They see your name on the Do Not Rehire list or whatever way they use to indicate candidates who left abruptly. 2. They call you back and you plead your case. You don't have to put all your guts out there, but be as detailed as possible. Appeal to their human side! lol. Wishing you the best!
