Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting and I have a question. Does anyone know of any medical supply stores in eastern mass (lawrence, haverhill, Newburyport area) or Southern New Hampshire (Seabrook, portsmouth, exeter, Dover area). Thanks in advance.

:D

You do not need a medical supply store if you are looking for supplies for school. A uniform shop will have all that you need.

Otherwise, can you be specific as to what you are looking for?

Thanks for the reply, I am looking for things like BVM's, Rescue masks, pen lights, good quality gloves, etc.

Again thanks for the reply.

I agree with Suzanne that a uniform store online or inperson will fill all your needs

There's a uniform store in Plaistow, NH called 'Scrub Station'. I went there recently and they have a very small selection of supplies. There's a medical supply place in downtown Haverhill called Davco, but I don't know what they have. Do you know of any other uniform places in the area?

I know Super Shoes on Rt 1 in Hampton Falls, NH has a section of nursing uniforms and a large selection of Nursing Shoes, Hyman's Pennyworth's on Rt 113 in Newburyport, MA has uniforms not sure of the selection though I have not been their yet. Hope this is of some help and thanks for letting me know of the places in Haverhill & Plaistow :)

I think I saw you post in the 'your school' thread that you are going to NECC? Me too. :)

Yes I am, I will be starting Nursing 101 in September. :)

Maybe you could try Ben's Uniforms in Amesbury.

Good Luck in September. Just graduated from NECCO. It was a long haul-but is going to bo so worth it.

Kamakasi -- Me, too! I'm in the evening class.

Echiro -- Congrats!!! Any advice for us?

Yes-there is a study guide that goes with your med surg books. Buy it!!! Got mine online. Sometimes you will see test questions from it--but it's good to study with. Always do the questions at the end of the chapters.

I taped most lectures.

Nursing 1 and 3 were my best semesters. Nursing 2 and 4 were very stressful.

Get a study group together. It does help. Just make sure you use that time and everyone is compatible. If you work cut back now. There were people that worked full time right up until the end--but with difficulty.

Feel free to bounce thoughts or questions off me. Im glad it's over--but it was well worth it.

Check online, type "medical supplies" in Yahoo.

Echiro --

Thanks so much for the advice!! I will definitely get the study guide. I've never taped lectures before. For A&P II, we had the powerpoint slides available after the first exam, and that helped tremendously. I was so wishing that they would do this, too. Probably not, ha? I got so much more out of the lecture when I wasn't furiously trying to keep up with the writing.

Nursing 3 is what I'm most looking forward to. L&D is why I am getting an RN (want to be a nurse-midwife eventually). I work part-time and have a toddler. Can't really cut back and I'm nervous. I'm hoping to quit my job for the second year. Do you suggest a PDA, or can I live without one? Do you suggest using an NCLEX book to study with? I've seen that suggested here.

Any other tips? Best places for clinicals? I'm nervous about getting sent far away. That could be a huge problem for me with my work schedule and daycare.

We should start a thread for NECC. Where would that go? In this forum or in the student forum?
