accredited?

i have a question, re: a foreign lpn school i located in brooklyn, but is not a accredited school, my question, what would be the requirements for the ny state nclex exam and would i be able to go to a another school for my rn later on? the school im talking about is international languages and professional network, in flatbush brooklyn. has anyone graduted from that school?

please do not go to an lpn school that is not state accredited. you won't be able to take the nclex. here is a list of approved practical nursing programs in new york. i would call the board of nursing though and ask them as this list may not be updated. the board's number is there as well.

SERIOUSLY?? you cannot take the NCLEX is your school is NOT accredited? I had no clue. My school is accredited but why in the world would a school allow students if you cannot take the boards at the end? makes no sense to me.

A school's nursing program does NOT need to be accredited in order to take and pass NCLEX, and obtain licensure as a nurse. Many people, myself included, have attended programs that were not accredited, and were able to take NCLEX and attain our nursing licensure with no hassles. As long as the nursing program is approved to operate by your state's BON (board of nursing), then you'll be eligible to sit for the NCLEX.

Approval and accreditation are two separate issues. A school can be approved by your state BON without ever being accredited, and you'll still be able to take NCLEX.

However, the lack of accreditation may become a hindrance if you intend to pursue the RN licensure, because the classes in the unaccredited LPN/LVN program might not be transferrable.

Hello.... your imformation is very imformative.... i was wondering if there is anyway that you could help me... I attended an international school in the caribbean and i completed a two year nursing program there and obtained my associates degree (ASN) but i still have not take my nclex yet, I have applied to CGFNS and its been 8 months since i graduated. I am beginning to think that my school is not accredited and i dont know what to do. Is there anyway that you can advise me on what i can do so that i am able to take the nclex. I would appreciate all your advice, hope to hear form you soon.
