Accelerated ADN program?

My school isn't private but it is highly regarded. I didn't have a problem sitting for the NCLEX-PN or getting jobs. Plus they just revamped the program. :)

Is it a for profit or private? I know up here in Indiana many places won't hire from the for profit schools. Please check out the NCLEX pass rates at this school. Since you are paying a lot of money, they had better prepare you for the NCLEX properly. Make sure you check everything out.

I am in an accelerated ADN program and love it! It's fast paced but it's perfect. It doesn't give me a chance to be lazy and procrastinate. It's an 11 month program and I've completed 7 so far! You need to be sure that the program is accredited by a nursing body. Not al programs are accredited by nursing bodies. You need to be sure you can sit for boards if it is not accredited. If it allows you to sit for boards in Fl. Be aware that your license may not transfer to another state.

My last word of caution. These expensive programs while they are quick and seem to meet a goal. You need to be very careful when taking on this debt since there is NO NURSING SHORTAGE and many hospitals are only hiring BSN grads.

I read on the website that only 10 students graduated this program in 2013 and they do not release work placement post graduation

Thank you for your feedback! I know its accredited for sure, and they have a 95% pass rate. Nor sure what you mean by nursing bodies? I have done some research about jobs and what they want. I do see a lot of good hospitals who will hire RN (with an associates) but must agree to get their bachelors within 3 years... which is fine because I plan on getting my bachelors anyway. I just need a quick jump start and make money. But yes, it's respected and known in my area. It was formly known as Keiser College and was bought by Southeastern College.

Why choose an expensive program that's just shy of two years over a program that is much cheaper, may be more respected, and is just a little longer, at two years?

I don't mean to offend, I just hate to see people pay more money than they should because I've made that mistake myself. If you're absolutely sure it's worth it, then good for you and congrats on getting into the program and best of luck in the future.

Also be cautious in that some schools brag that they are accredited in one way, but they may not be accredited with one thing or another, if that makes sense. That I'm not so sure how it works but there are posts about it around.

No worries, I'm not offended! Well, i'm 25, 3 kids and I need something faster than 3-4 years worth. It works out for my family. Now, if I was single, and had the time, I would have, but I have to work with what I got! I don't mind the loan debt... I am paying it now and its fine. Plus, If I work at this public hospital in my area, they pay 60% of my school in 2 years, and another 25% if I stay another year. I have verified that it's accredited... thanks for the congrats!
