ABSN NYU Fall 2016

Hey! Just wanted to make a thread on the upcoming Accelerated nursing program at NYU for Fall 2016.

I have started my application process! I'm waiting for my professor to complete one of my letter of recommendations and I am putting the final touches on my personal statement. How is everyone else doing in the process?

hi @sage288. i am also applying for the ABSN fall 2016 at NYU- almost done with my application. Just need to send official transcripts. It says that an LOR is optional, so I'm considering not sending one- I think my most reliable references are getting sick of writing my letters for nursing school at this point. i applied last year for fall 2015, but unfortunately was not accepted. however, i believe that recent healthcare experience will make my app more competitive this time around. when will you be sending your app in?

@lyspo, I just submitted my application and will be sending in my transcripts and letter of recommendations tomorrow morning! Best of luck to you! I hope we both get in!!!! I also had some volunteer experience in a healthcare clinic! Now all we have to do is wait.....lol

awesome! good luck! im definitely planning on sending everything out this week. are you submitting a letter of rec?

  • Author

@lyspo yes i did... I submitted 2 letters of rec...one academic & the other from my supervisor at the clínic where I volunteer.

I am also applying to the NYU ABSN program too. All I need is my letter of references and I'll be set to go. :) Best of luck to y'all!

Hi everyone! I also submitted my application (just an hour ago actually) and already requested my transcripts as well. I will probably send in a letter of rec as well but wanted to clarify with NYU whether there was anything in particular that needed to be added on it to help them connect the letter with my application. I would imagine that they receive a ton of letters via mail and am worried that mine will get lost in the mix.

Best of luck to us all. We're all in this togetherrrrrr!

@aspringfnp30 yayy :) I sent all my transcripts and letters of rec together in one big envelope because I've heard so much about applicants sending them in & NYU not receiving them. It kind of scared me so I called to confirm if that was a good way to sent them & they said it was fine...I hope it gets there lol

i wish i'd thought of that @sage288! it can definitely get nerve wrecking thinking about materials not arriving on time.

i sent in my app and transcripts earlier this week, but i'm still trying to figure out what to do about an LOR. have any of your recommenders ever told you guys that they'd only reference you for X amount of schools?

Is the due date March 1st or April 1st? I am confused by the dates

  • Author

@lypso no I've never heard of that. I've always been told that if I needed an updated recommendation letter they would provide me with one.

@krystalw Priority deadline is March 1st meaning you could submit your application by that date and possibly get an earlier admission decision. April 1st is the regular deadline

I should be submitting my application by the end of this week. Just touching up my personal statement and hoping my LOR's get there on time. I had to send NYU's address to my recommenders bc they prefer to send them out so I hope they get there on time.

I'm so nervous!..I also have never volunteered or shadowed any nurses before, but I have been working as an aide for almost a year now so I hope thats okay

Good luck to everyone!
