A question for nursing educators: Why can't students see their final?

This question came from a post on another thread, but I though if we asked one of the forum nurse educators they can enlighten us on this issue? How do you feel about allowing students to see their final? As far as I understand, it is routine for the final exams to be held by instructors, but if a student wanted to see how they did on the final, would you allow them? are you allowed to let them see the tests if it is not your ultimate decision?

Thanks!

YEs. THey are allowed to review them but not remove them or have a copy per University policy.

I am speaking for Laurentian, U. (Ontario, Canada)

I'm a student who happens to be browsing this board (thinking about education down the line). I took my final last week and we did review it in class, but no one could leave the room with the final for obvious reasons.

We allow students to make appt with instructor to discuss any test, but student is not allowed to have copy of test.

One of my instructors banks her questions for future tests.

I find it hard to believe but yes, even nursing students will cheat. I can't imagine why anyone would lower themselves to cheating let alone help someone else cheat. There have been times when instructors have used the same test and then students pass them on to the next students in line. It's discusting to say the least. I can't help but wonder how many of the students that got straight A's did it by cheating half way through their classes ...30% ..50% ??

We allow our students to view their finals individually in the instructor's office and will conduct an individual review with the student, upon request. The student cannot keep the examination--these are kept on file for awhile, then shredded.
