I moved to Colorado Springs because of my husband's new job assignment. I didn't know most RN jobs here require New Grads to have a Bachelor's Degree. I only have an Associate's degree. I have went on numerous job interviews only to get turned down because of my lack of experience or "I have the experience needed but no positions available". I apply for jobs in a clinical setting in the city and an hour away. It is getting frustrating. I feel like I should just concentrate on school, get my MSN, and then search. I am a new grad with BLS, ACLS, and enrolled in RN to MSN school. I wish I would have research Colorado before moving here.

No, I have not considered private care. I would not feel comfortable going to patients' houses. There are jobs are for nurses with 1+ years of experience, not New Grads.

Colorado is pretty saturated with nurses and unfortunately because hospitals are so focused on obtaining magnet status, most of them require BSNs.

I suggest trying Drs.. offices, clinics, LTCs and SNFs. They do hire ASN nurses!

What kinds of positions are you applying for? I would agree home health /private duty is not for a new grad.

Have you looked at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo? They will hire new grads. Honestly, if you have had multiple interviews but no job offers, I would get your interviewing skills critiqued. Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm only trying to help :) Consider contacting one/some of the people that interviewed you and politely ask for feedback on what worked in your favor and what did not. Pikes Peak Workforce Center is one of the many places here in the Springs where you can practice mock interviews.. I just researched that. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, but there may be areas that you could work on so you really shine. Anyone who interviewed you would have already looked at your resume and realized you do not have experience; if they bothered to interview you that means they were willing to give you a chance despite that lack of experience. I got hired into an ICU job in this area as a ADN new grad a few weeks ago, so I know it can be done. Best of luck - you can do it!!
