Hello my fellow NP's. I graduate with my FNP in May of next year. However, I was wondering what was the best study tools you used to help pass the State boards? Also, if someone will be willing to share any materials that you may have. Thank you all for reading my post.

There are no state boards, there are national certifying body boards.

There are many threads on good prep courses and materials for specific certifying body speciality boards. For FNP you will be taking one/both of the ANCC or the AANP exams for FNP speciality. Which one are you planning on?

I did plan on taking both of them. I have been looking and have been unsuccessful in finding the sudy material. This is why I asked. Thank you for this information. I will continue to look.

Study material exists all over the place. One of the best things you can do now is buy a review manual from Leik, Hollier, Barkley, or Fitzgerald and go over it a little bit here and there during your final semester. They're all great clinical resources.

Closer to graduation (1-2 months) it's a good idea to attend a live review or buy a review on CD from one of the above mentioned names. These reviews help you tie in everything you learned over the last few years and get your studying in the right direction.

The AANP is largely clinical, the AACN has clinical/ethical/research/Medicare issues also covered. Both have similar passage rates. I know the Barkley CD review covers the non-clinical portions if you're going for the AACN.

thanks to the above, that info is good to know...i was planning on ordering a used Fitzgerald set soon, but my program directs everyone to take the AACN so i think i will look at Barkley instead for now! thanks
