test? On a 1- 10 scale, how was it?

No, I haven't. I'm interested in the new Cardiac Medicine certification, though. I haven't seen any text available for it yet either.

Just curious if anyone has taken this test since it was initiated in January?

I did not take the test but I did attend a several review sessions for the test at TRENDS and the information reviewed was very basic. If the test was remotely similiar to the information reviewed anyone with even minimal experience in cardiac surgery would be able to pass the test.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be a lot harder than the CCRN. I know that one was tough. But I'd sure like a crack at it!

I took the cardiac medicine subspecialty exam in March. I just found out today that I passed. I didn't study too much, I am currently in an ACNP progam and have worked critical care for the last 5 years (10 years as an RN) I walked out feeling like it was alot easier than I thought it would be. Alot of questions about bedside decision making. Good luck to anyone who takes the exam!

I will be taking it soon. I was wondering if anyone has taken it also. I am having a hard time finding anyine who has. If it is taken on the computer do you find out your score right away? Any input would be most appreciated.

I took the exam last month. It wasn't bad, I passed. There are either 90 or 95 questions. Some of the questions are test questions, so they don't count. You find out if you passed or not right away. If you take care of immediate open hearts, it will be a piece of cake. It really focused on the first eight hours, I don't know where they get that 48 hour idea. Hope you pass.

No. I didn't think so. More on cardiac numbers. There were some questions that I felt there wasn't enough information given to make a good judgement. Good luck.

I take the test in 1 week. what did they ask about post-pump hepatic failure. I am having a hard time locating info on it. What did you mean cardiac numbers? CO and CI? It is driving me nuts not having practice questions to work on. Any last advice would be most welcome.

Yea, I passed. I wasn't too bad. There were questions on a particular drug we don't use in my facility, but all in all not too bad. Know your valves inside and out. Best of luck to anyone else taking the exam.
