Does having an ADN over a BSN matter when searching for a job in North Carolina?

Hi everyone!

this is my first time using this site so bear with me. I currently live in Michigan in the metro Detroit area. I have graduated from school with my ADN and passed my nclex yay! But now that I am ready to start a job they are difficult to find. In my area they really only want to hire you if you have your BSN, which I plan on getting but I won't have it for a year and a half at least and I need a job now. My husband may have to move to North Carolina for work and I was wondering if the fact that I only have my ADN will give me trouble like it does up here.

    Have you tried online job searches, see what the postings are asking for?

    I'm not in North Carolina, but I think it would depend on the specific area. I know certain areas of my state are BSN only, but my area is still hiring ADNs. Maybe try checking online ads for the area you might be moving to. You can also try posting in the North Carolina section of this website if you haven't already. Good luck!

    I work near Detroit and I was hired in with an ADN. I had four months of experience. I would see if you are marketing yourself adequately. Also, make sure you have your license number. If you don't, you'll be moved to the trash 99% of the time so wait till you get your Michigan license number.

    Start using the NC state site to register your resume. Call facilities hospital or nursing home in the area you are going and see what the requirements are

    In my little corner of North Carolina they hire more ADN nurses than BSN. However, what they do care about is experience... it can still be hard for a new grad to get in just because of the lack of experience and the time and money they will have to invest in you. Good luck!

    They are still hiring ADN, but it is getting harder. I think I answered something similar to another poster. Get enrolled in a BSN program asap. My facility is hiring ADN but they have to commit to enrolling within 2 years and finishing in 5 (BSN) I live in Eastern NC
