online RN program for non medical background student

Are there any online RN programs for people with no medical background? A program that would require the student to go to a location for clinicals for a full weekend several times for the semester but would not require one to be in the classroom for the theory portion . Excelisor has something like this but you have to already have a medical background...

Not really. All entry to practice programs require in person clinical and lab time. Western Governors University offers a hybrid program but only to residents of certain states (5 I think) and the in person schedules are fixed in advance not flexible due to arrangements with facilities.

Excelsior is limited to currently licensed/certified medical professionals that have already completed specific clinical rotations as it is a bridge program. Several states will not license EC grads who were not LPNs first (medics, RRT) without additional supervised clinical practicum.

If you already have a BS in something (even if it is not medical), check out a 2nd degree program. The U of Wisconsin Oshkosh has a 2nd degree online accelerated BSN program. Of course, you would still need all of the prerequisites, but they are clearly listed on their webpage.

wow that looks like a great program if only it wasn't accelerated.. I wouldn't be able to work at all while attending.
